I didn't know her but it sure is eerrie lookin at someone's page knowing they have gone thru a violent demise that has cut thier life short. I hope they find who did this to the folks that obviously loved her and found comfort from having her in thier life. I don't understand people that feel they have the right to take anothers life in anger. I understand accidents - but to take something so precious away from another is just so wrong. Course that's why I feel capitol punishment is justifiable. People choose the moment they loose control and decide to take another person's life cause of thier emotions.

My thoughts go to the people who cherished her and to her children. Just a sad story - even tho we don't know the whole story. I hope the rumors subside long enough to give the PD a chance to get an iron clad case against whoever did this.

DODGE CITY - Dodge City police are investigating an apparent homicide along with the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.


According to a statement from the KBI, police were notified of the death of a 31-year-old woman at 12:50 p.m. Saturday.

The woman was identified as Erin L. Jones, 2510 Bell.

The KBI became involved at the request of Dodge City Police Chief John Ball.

No suspects are in custody, and the cause of death has not been released. Officials with the Dodge City Police Department and the KBI were unavailable for comment

Im thankful that the KBI in in on this. From my experience in the past years you cant always depend on the DCPD to do a proper investigation, and get to the bottom of anything. I keep seeing she had kids.. they cant be that old, and I wonder where they were durring all this.

State fellers are called in when specific criteria requires thier presence................ that's why I find it interesting they are part of the process. At least that's how it's done down here. The locals handel it unless it requires the state fellas and the state fellas aren't called to most cases. It usually has nothing to do with how competant folks feel the locals are. Maybe KBI was just called in to collect evidence but I'm sure there are local detectives that can collect evidence. Who knows............. who cares??????..................... I just hope they solve and fry whoever did it. Murder is just sooooo wrong. Yep I do not have any problem killin the murderer............... I lose no sleep over that.

I understand that she had been seeing a DC police officer, so I wonder if that's why they got the KBI involved.

The KBI being called in would make sense if this is true.

That's what I heard too I don't live there. I heard her boyfriend, who is a LEO might be the suspect. Nothing in the Globe of course.

If there was any evidence that the suspect was an LEO, I would think that the KBI would have to be called in to investigate it. But, that is just speculation at this point until the facts come in.

From the Globe...

Police contacted the KBI shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday to report that they had found the body of Erin Lynn Jones, 31, inside her home on Bell Street in Dodge City, KBI Deputy Director Kyle Smith said Monday. Authorities have notified Jones' family.

Looks like the globe has better facts than the Hutch News on this one. The police weren't notified at 12:50pm, that is when the police notified the KBI. The DCPD was on the scene that morning.
