Dodge City Police Officer a Suspect for Murder!

I'm wondering if perhaps he didn't find out the warrant was issued (it's a simple phone call anyone can make) then took off before they had a chance to serve it? Things happen very quickly sometimes - the Colorado folks would have not had a clue he was wanted had it not been for them checkin out his KS DL I bet. Agencies don't always talk to each other state to state and often county to county - depends on what kind of warrant it was.

Some of the newer systems CAN shut down the vehicle. It only takes about 2 seconds once the signal is sent from the CO. The time involved is getting someone from On Star with that capability and getting authorization and clearance to have it done. I have heard it can take a high level official to make the request- and then there's liability waivers and all that. With anything, the time involved is in the bureaucracy. And yes, they can monitor the speed using GPS and initiate the shutdown when the vehicle is at a safe speed. Keep in mind the lower end On Star systems do not interface with the ignition system, but I am pretty sure the ones in the Hummers do.

If the City Manager knew, then the DCPD definitely knew, yet the info was left out of the paper, that he was wanted or that he was on the run.

Maybe Kansas or Dodge Polices needs to take a lesson from other police departments? Around here, if there has been a crime and the police think they know who did it but don't have enough for a warrant or indictment, they issue a request for information on a "Person of Interest Who May Have Information". Typically that person ends up getting charged but it helps get the word out without saying "joe blow is wanted for murder" too soon.

At the end of the day, you and the others have a good point.

I really dont feel like going back and quoting someone but i believe to the best of my knowledge that they mentioned we dont know the state of mind he could be in after commiting a murder but it couldnt have been that bad because he went to HDs to have a good time that sat. night doesnt seem like his mind was affected enough to not be out on the town after alledgedly murdering a person he was stalking sounds like a he is or was a very calculating and manipulitive perosn

Why are you so adamant about sticking up for him??? It is obvious that the Denver Post did their homework when they included quotes from Jeff Pederson, the City Manager, and Rick Sowers, a City commissioner. It should be fairly easy to admit you were wrong to stick up for him at this point!

Exactly! I am also surprised that Admin. hasn't banned him from Dodgeboard yet considering he has a very negative reputation level. He was up to 4 red bars the last time I saw. It also says he is off the scale with negative rep.
