I'm just posting the numbers from the same website that you linked to. Others can do what they want with the info I posted.

I for one didn't take Bubba's post as a political statement.. and I think every one on this board totally support our troops and indeed honor them...

Im glad he posts it... cause Im too lazy to look it up ....lol

I think it breaks everyone's heart to hear every day of our fallen hero's ...
No ...we dont have the first hand information that our loved ones in the military have...all we have to go by is the media...

I think also that most people in the whole country, were appalled by the pork in the bill.... I didn't realize any political party could put something like that in a bill to fund the military.....WTF is that about anyway...I'm still shaking my head in disbelief on that one

In that case, right on Bubba.

It's something they all do to get votes.

It's a shitty way to do business but it's how things get done.

OF course if Bush wouldn't have made this an "Emergency Supplimental" bill it would be harder to defend.

All this money should have been in his proposed regular budget anyway. It's not like the funding for the war was something he didn't realize he'd need.

It costs more because of the EPA standards that are being pushed higher and higher by the liberals....

I have an idea.... How about all those stock holders that are earning billions of profit....in a free society....DONATE....to the freedom cause and get the equipment that our troops need..... especially that new vehicle (?) that they say will help save our guys from IED's ...Where is their sense of patriotism..they are profiteers , pure and simple...The U.S. Military has some of the best and most technologically advanced equipment in the world. While it would be ideal for every unit in Iraq to roll out in the most up to date brand new vehicles every time the leave a fire base would be just peachy...but that's not realistic. In the short time we have been there the Army has changed it's equipment and tactics drastically and has adapted and CONTINUES to adapt daily to an ever changing environment. When the enemy comes up with something new on the ground the soldiers there send feedback up and new equipment is developed, tested and eventually fielded. This process doesn't happen overnight. While some of our equipment is probably getting raggedy we still have much better equipment than most. SGT T...you are in the sh*t....what is your take on this please???

They take no thought of sending our babies off to a hostile nation to be murdered and maimed....IF THEY FU**ING CARED .... OUR TROOPS WOULD HAVE EVERYTHING THEY NEED AND THEN SOME !!!!!!!! dammit Who is "they"? Last time I checked there were no babies in the Military...It's war...soldiers unfortunately get murdered and maimed. It's hard but that's what happens in war. A lot of people in this country don't have the stomach for that.....

Why don't we talk about all the lives and limbs that have been saved because now we get soldiers evacuated from the battlefield faster than ever? You never hear about the awesome equipment that has been developed and fielded for the war...do you ever think that the news you hear MIGHT be politically motivated to sway public opinion? I think so...and it has worked on many....

Looks like some corrected numbers for 5/22-5/24.

New total 366
A surge will likely increase casualty totals for a period. A surge means adding more troops and going out and running the bad guys out...that will cause more casualties. Do you people expect to have a war with no casualties? How many people died on Omaha Beach? How many died at Iwo Jima?

I know you're not trying to compare WW II to Iraq. No REAL soldier, past or current would try to do that.

I can honestly say that we are F#%KED if we stay in Iraq, AND we are F#%KED if we leave Iraq. Either way it's a now win situation. But realistically, at some point we have to say that is enough money spent and enough lives lost.

I'm not comparing wars just the amount of casualties we take now days. While every life is important we are fighting smarter and with better equipment than ever (despite what JW thinks...) The bottom line is we are in a war on Terror and terrorist. We can quit now and walk away or we can keep plugging away. This war will last for years...and if you think that if we pull out of iraq we are finished fighting...think again. One day you might be fighting for your life right here on your soil...then you will say...wish we had kept fighting when we had the chance..

Back when we had our own revolution about a third of the folks opposed it, another third could care less and only a third were determined to free ourselves from the Brits.

I’m glad the determination of the minority won out over popular opinion.
