I have fond memories of standing in line, in Moscow, waiting to buy something... only to have the storekeeper decide to close up shop and take a break right when you get up to the cash register, just because you were American.

I also have fond memories of the friends I made while in Russia, getting kissed on each cheek with the admonition to come back and stay longer and that we would be sorely missed.

There are remnants of communism everywhere you look in Moscow - less so in other parts of the country. Unfortunately, one of the communist remnants seems to be Putin.

Often, the easiest mindset is the old mindset.

And there is a problem with that? You say we pissed off Putin? Would you rather have the U.S. bow to his commands? Should we not piss off the little nut from Iran either? We pissed off the Soviet Union (now Russia + many other countries) before during the Reagan years and low and behold it worked. The Berlin wall came down. What would you suggest we do Jeeze?

I think regular folks ... just like us ...no matter the country.. are just trying their best to just put food on the table and take care of their families...and most just want peace and prosperity..Its been my experience also, overseas, that the regular folks loved Americans....I

All of our lives are in the hands of our leaders.... and its very important to keep our leaders at bay... We can do that in America Thank God... but other nations don't have that option.... what we have is indeed what others want... freedom to question those that lead us......... Otherwise.....we would be like the German people... when they were led through the death camps after the camps were liberated...
"We just didn't know this was going on"... and I doubt they did ...cause they were in just as much danger as the Jews ...if they questioned authority...

So I guess ..we can all hope and pray that the Russian people have a little say now, all these years later and will keep Putin at bay... but it is still a communist country and thats scary to me...

Of course I don't want the USA to bow to Putin or the Little Gremlin from Iran..and there you go AGAIN... referring to another time and place ...with different leaders in power....wish you would quit that and step into the now...WHAT IS IT ABOUT THE PRESENT that you don't want to face up to ??
