To convert from Liters to Gallons, multiply the number of Liters by 0.26417

4 liters = 1.056688204 gallons

About 50 cents a gallon.

I missed that part because I was laughing at wordy's grade...I guess I get an "F" in math. Does that mean wordy is no longer a wordsmythe and now reduced to wordapprentice?

I'll take wordsmythe's 12 cents a gallon over the 12 cents a liter.

Also, I firmly agree with CarTalk's take on global warming and gas taxes. I say, put a 100% tax on gas. That will reduce demand in the short term, thereby decreasing carbon emissions. The 100% gas tax would then be used for the research and development of environment-friendly energy and fuel sources.

Yeah, I know it's not feasible.

But it might actually work.

Global Warming is not being caused by man. Global warming is as natural as nature itself. It happens speriodically and at its own volition. Serious you live in Kansas, can weathermen even tell you what the temperature will be 2 months from now? Now switch weatherman with politician, you think a politician knows more about weather than a weatherman?

We need to concentrate on cleaning population centers of pollutants more than worrying about global warming.

Work? The price of everything that is moved by trucks, trains or planes would sky rocket and inflation would be out the roof. It would kill the economy.

Not to mention that carbon emissions don't cause global warming.

PS...I heard that Bush was now willing to do something about global warming...

He is going to start the "Cold" war back up!!

Regardless of which group of scientists is right, regardless of whether man causes global warming, regardless of whether or not there IS a slight increase in global temperature or if any variation is a natural phenomenon, one fact remains: we have a responsibility to take care of this planet. It's the only one we have at the moment, and we oughtta make it last.

Even if emissions don't add to the global warming problem, pollution is a problem. Anyone ever been to Denver and seen the brown cloud?

In my mind, global warming is a moot point. We still need to take care of the natural resources we have and move away from fossil fuels into renewable energy sources. Coal and oil won't last forever. Let's find a better way to do things.

I agree we need to keep pollution to a minimum, but carbon emissions (CO2) is not a pollutant, green plants need it for photosynthesis to create O2.

As far as moving away from fossil fuels, nuclear power plants are expensive and nobody wants to store the waste after the fuel is spent, wind energy is only available when the wind blows and not too hard. Too much wind or not enough wind result in the same thing, no electricity.

As long as we have enough green plants!
