| Fairness Doctorine? Dems can't win so they want to change the rules... NewsTrack - Top News Published: June 24, 2007 at 8:25 PM E-mail Story | Print Preview | License Feinstein might push for fairness doctrine WASHINGTON, June 24 (UPI) -- U.S. Sen. Diane Feinstein, D-Calif., said Sunday she is "looking at" the possibility of reviving the fairness doctrine for U.S. broadcasters. Feinstein, speaking on "Fox News Sunday" with Sen. Trent Lott, R-Miss., said talk radio in particular has presented a one-sided view of immigration reform legislation being considered by the Senate. U.S. talk radio is dominated by conservative voices. So bring back Air Amerika...it's just no one wants to listen to Liberal talk radio. "This is a very complicated bill," said Feinstein. "Most people don't know what's in this bill. I'll agree with THAT...Therefore, to just have one or two things dramatized and taken out of context, such as the word amnesty -- we have a silent amnesty right now, but nobody goes into that. Nobody goes into the flaws of our broken system." Feinstein said the measure before the Senate "fixes those flaws" but that doesn't get presented on talk radio, which she said "pushes people to ... extreme views without a lot of information." Congress is NOTORIUS for withholding information... Asked if she would revive the fairness doctrine, which used to require broadcasters to present competing sides of controversial issues, Feinstein said she was "looking at it." "I remember when there was a fairness doctrine," she said, "and I think there was much more serious correct reporting to people." United Press International - NewsTrack - Top News - Feinstein might push for fairness doctrine This would MANDATE networks offset programming from both sides instead of it being market driven which in effect would cause some stations to drop programs like Rush and O'Reilly. What about the "fairness doctorine" in network news? Where is the balance for the 8 out of 10 reporters that are liberal? Where is the balance for CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN and MSNBC? Where is the fairness doctorine for Hollywood?

| You can listen to Air America for yourself on-line if you like at Air America Radio | The one I REALLY like is Ed Schultz The Ed Schultz Show You can listen to him 11 a.m. to 2 p.m on one of the links here The Ed Schultz Show The WINZ link seems to be the most reliable.

| Liberal Alan Colmes of FOX News Hannity & Colmes explained the failing of Air America best. He said it simply wasn’t entertaining. In my words yeah, it’s only the hard core far left extremists that want to listen to bash Bush hate speech 24/7. Alan has his own liberal talk radio show and seems to do well. Tonight’s guest is listed as Ann Coulter and that would bring in a mix of folks on both sides of the political spectrum. Heck, I might want to listen to that one myself. Alan’s show airs from 9PM to midnight CT and can be found at this link. Alan Colmes - FOXNews.com

I guess that’s how to have successful liberal radio. Promise to have conservatives in to prop up the show.

| that is the problem in a nutshell.......it is just not entertaining. I also do not find right wing talk shows entertaining, they both just push their own agendas without actually discussing anything. I think the only reason O'Rielly is called conservative is because to the liberals, you are either a Liberal or your a conservative, no in between. It is a shame that the far-left controls the Democrats.

| One thing I came away with from the Colmes show was that he was in radio back when there was a Fairness Doctrine. He said the problem he saw was there was so much red tape and bookkeeping involved that stations simply don’t want to mess with talk radio and won’t carry any of it. He opposed it. Dang, I miscalculated the time zone change or they are replaying the first segment again. Ann is now on with Alan.
