"There was a lot of prescription medication that he had received from doctors with what we believed to be at this time legal prescriptions," said Lt. Tommy Pope of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department....

I read he had over $500,000 of income in one report. With that kind of money, I guess you can find the right doctor to prescribe whatever you want.

I am usually one to agree to hold judgement till everything is in. In this case however he killed his wife and son - nothing wait on for that. No matter what was in his system he was a trained athlete - he was well aware of what the drugs do. Often they take them close to compition and they know they get wierd right before a fight. There are zillions of folks that look up to these guys - they know the dangers better than you or I. Inexcusable in my eyes. No matter what the results are - he was a coward. Anything he ever did doesn't matter much due to what he did on his way out. Even if his system proves to be dirty or clean his legacy is forever in the crapper. Fine if he wanted to waste his life but he had no right to waste the lives of those that loved and trusted him in spite of who he was. All his goodness is for naught at this point. Even his closest friends (TJ Booker in Houston who fought with him 100 plus time) are sickened by what has happened and how he left this earth. Course he will have to reckon with his maker - our opinion doesn't really matter much.

Craigb is confused on the days actually. It was Monday night during the weekly showing of RAW that I found this out. Chris Benoit has always been one of my favorite wrestlers. I can't say anymore it makes me to sad.

I was sickened by reading all the messages people left on the WWI site. Everybody was saying what a wonderful man he was.. how they have lost such a great guy. I heard on the news lastnight that he wasnt such a great guy. His wife had a restraining order against him a few years ago. She said she feared for her life and her sons. I guess she was right. That is what pisses me off. She tried to get help a long time ago and tell everybody what he was like and that she was scared. I do have to wonder why she went back or stayed with him. Money messes you up in more than one way. I just cant imagain what was going though his sons mind with his mother dead for a day before his dad turned on him. Id like to think that all the people in the wresteling world will pay attention to this. Some people say wresteling is just for fun... it is a show, and I believe that to a point. It is obviously more than that if they need to be on steroids and what ever other drugs. It is my opinion that it is all about violence. Kids that watch that crap ( and I didnt say all...) have a violent streak in them and then grow up to be bullys and who knows what else. I hope this opens everybody eyes.

There are people that have to take steroids because they are ill. I would be willing to bet...(now that we have gambling) that he was taking the roids to be pumped up to look good for his "wrestling". He probably was aware of the side effects...we are and we don't take them. He chose to take them and his wife and child suffered. From what I read they were pretty ugly murders also.

After listening to an interview with the former wife of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin tonight I think the steroid issue is going to be dealt with somehow. “Roid Rage” is real and ugly. Add to that 60 wrestlers died by age 45 in the last ten years. A blind eye has been turned to the domestic abuse the wives have endured. We still don’t have a toxicology report in the Benoit case yet but from what is coming out about steroids in unrelated cases you can bet somebody is going to demand action.

I know they have drug testing in place but often the drugs are taken right before the match - there needs to be some public suspensions to get thier attention. It's sad but it's in most sports. Used to be booze and women now it's roids........................... the customer wants more than the natural wrestler can deliver. If you go back and look at the wrestlers in the 50's or how out of shape the sports players were in the 1900's you can see how they have evolved into what the public demands and what the promoters demand. There is plenty of blame to go around but ultimatley the decision was his. All the more reason to have a profession (education) you can fall back on.

Texie, I may be wrong, but I don't believe steroids are banned in this so called "wrestling" event. All the, or I should say most of the wrestlers, allegedly take drugs and steroids to keep their bodies pumped up unnaturally. They are not required to be tested, because they are not banned.
