What's wrong with this picture?

It appears that it is ok to harrass someone (and i picture this person being threatened by the harrassment), but defend yourself and the cops will arrest you and let the harrasser go free.

Just whom was the actual victim here?

Teen arrested for stabbing classmate with pencil

In an era of school violence, a pencil is considered a weapon and stabbing a student with one is worthy of arrest.


A Garden City teen was arrested Wednesday at Kenneth Henderson Middle School after allegedly stabbing a classmate in the leg with a pencil.

According to Troy Davis, master police officer with the Garden City Police Department, officers were called to the school at 2406 Fleming, for a reported aggravated battery.

Investigation disclosed that the 15-year-old stabbed the other student, also 15, because the student was harassing him.

The victim was treated by the school nurse and released. The suspect was arrested and released to the local juvenile processing center, Programs Assessment Treatment Habilitation.

The victim is anyone that is forced to go to school in the public schools.

Words are not aggrivated battery. He screwed up when he thrusted the pencil - the first to turn violent is always to blame - frovoked or not - you can always walk away.

Oh no! It's never easy to walk away cause that just provokes more harrassement. How much crap can a kid be forced to take? What is all that harrassement doing for his emotional stability?

Yes, Texie. In your little world, but I wasn't brought up that way. People that think like you are part of the problem. If you take it upon yourself to harrass someone, then you should EXPECT to get what you brought on yourself. Maybe that's wrong and I was brought up too old school. You know when a threat of your fathers leather strap on your backside, made you stop and think.

So mental abuse of a fellow student is OK but Violence is bad. I got ya.

This is why there are school shootings. Then, like you, we all wonder why?

I don't wonder why - I don't make the law - I just follow it the best I can. Are you saying the kid had no other way to deal with the issue? I am older than you so the leather strap ain't got nuthin on the switches my grandma made us pick for our beatins.............. truth is tho - we are in the real world with the laws that are on the books. I don't care if they go out and whip each others ass - but if they get caught - they gotta follow the laws on the books. It's how society works.

I thought they were getting "bullying" laws on the books in a lot of states. Is Ks not doing that?

Words are words are words are words! If you let someone who is harrassing you make you angry, you lose, they win... I guess all you old school people should have learned more about the whole "sticks and stones" concept. There are obviously other ways to handle situations like this other than aggravated battery... You stab someone for harrassing you -you go to jail -like you deserve to. You may not like the law, but thats what it is...sorry

I can't imagine that the kid being harrassed was only harrassed with WORDS. I have been in the schools and have seen the harrassment.

My son was happy to finally get out of the middle school so he could stop getting 'beat up' by everyone.

I would not have been mad at him for fighting back, but he is just not like that. He would walk away. I could see someone less mentally stable doing somthing in retaliation, then getting in trouble.

School bullies are NOT harmless. And, they don't use words. They use fear.

bully a bully and it stops. in the future im sure this harrasser wont be harrassing anyone any more. You can only walk so far and for so long before you have to turn around and walk right back where you came from. If you dont clear the path and make the path of least resistance then you have only made your life a little harder to deal with. This teen is probably going to get alot of trouble and VinMan said it agg batt is agg batt its the law regardless of the reason. I bet it stops now with the bully. I just hope that the teen doesnt use that as a learning experience and sees that if it worked once why not again.
