That’s funny Dutch. Years ago in another house I had a crawl space flood from a heavy rain. The water caused the soil to swell pushing the center beam supporting the floor up and that cracked several walls. It wasn’t covered. I sarcastically ask about storing gasoline in open containers next to the furnace and was told that it would be covered.

BTW, I once lived on 3rd St. for a couple of years. That’s not were the above happened but I have memories of watching cars float by.

Monster said: The power was out from 10:30pm until 5.30am this morning. Cleaning up this morning.

I live over in the same area, Kliesen Hills Addition. I woke up around 4:30 a.m. & called Victory about the power outage. I'm glad I called because Steve said their records showed that my area's electric service had already been brought back online. It would've been a big pain trying to get ready for work without electricity. Just goes to show that calling VE is better than hoping they'll take care of the problem or assuming someone else will call them.

wow. Who's your agent and have you changed agents yet? The agents up here ask a whole load of boring questions and make you sign off that you declined certain coverages. Called CYA. If he didn't offer it to you, he has a lawsuit just waiting for him. Sewer backup should cover no matter the cause of the backup - I'd double check that one. Getting flood insurance if you don't live in a flood plain is a huge hassle and very pricey. But is there no storm water planning in your area? Seems like when I hear about rain floods out there, it's either on 3rd or in your subdivision........I'd be loud and clear at the next city commission meeting......there needs to be some changes there.

Ya know KC, it was never a problem down here until they re-did Beeson in front of the school. There is about a 3 inch lull in the road at the intersection of the school and the road. During a dowpour this fills up and causes a lake, which overpowers the drainage located next to my house. Since the last big rain I ran a snake through my sytem which apparently helped since nothing happened this time. As for the insurance, I was mistaken in that my coverage if I get the sewer backup coverage, does cover any damage if my sewer floods regardless. My current insurance only covers damage if it is caused by water not coming up from the main sewer line. A blocked toilet or sink is covered. I was told that once rain hits the ground it is considered a flood. If I left my window open, and rain came through the window, and caused damage, then that is covered. Once it hits the ground, then it is not.

That's right - stupidity ain't covered! Ya gotta close them winders!!! J/K!

That isn't right, though, and you can't be the only affected one. Make the city DO something. That should never have been left like that. Where's the City Engineer?
