As for the President and Congress. BLOODSUCKERS. Taxpayers pay them a healthy living, and most if not all are plenty capable of paying out of their own pockets for their insurance. Serve their country ? Thats debatable.
Just like Dutch said in another post. Even retirees on SS have to pay for health insurance out of their fixed income. So there aint no free lunch for seniors. I as a senior resent being classified as a hand-out.

I know you will hate this...but did you KNOW you were going to retire or did that come as a shock to you? Some people start planning at an early age for retirement, some don't. Most people KNOW they can't live on SS alone and you shouldn't expect to, therefore you plan. My mom and dad are an ok example. Both worked their entire lives knowing at some point they would retire. Unfortunately within about 4 years of retirement cancer got the better of my dad but my mom is 70 and does just about anything she wants. Some people fail to plan and if you do how can you complain? Again..it's not like retirement sneaks up on you.

gun control I think its just a female thing to wonder why a civilian needs an AK-47, or other assault weapons, but thats just me. So yes I do believe in some sort of gun control, without screwing THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS
I’m going to weigh in on this one and no, I don’t think it’s just a female thing. It’s more of a propaganda induced thing. Back in the 90’s when the assault weapons ban (AWB) was discussed and passed I was a licensed Federal Firearms Dealer (FFL). My information came from the BATF directly and not the media or the NRA.

I’ve talked to several folks that were under the false impression that some how the AWB had something to do with machine guns or full-autos. Some were military veterans and gun owners that for sure knew the difference between full-auto and semi-auto. They fully supported the AWB until they found out the truth about it and then became opposed to it.

The AWB was about semi-autos that operate no differently than other common sporting weapons. True assault weapons are select fire capable of full-auto or short bursts of full-auto. Nothing in the AWB had that capability including the AK-47. What was really banned was appearance items like folding stocks, pistol grips, flash suppressors and bayonet lugs that did not affect the operation of the weapon.

Now about the propaganda. These weapons were constantly referred to a “deadly assault weapons”. They are no more deadly than comparable sporting weapons that didn’t have the military appearance accessory items. We were told that they weren’t suitable for hunting which was largely true because the ammo lacked the velocity and bullet weight required in most states by their Division of Wildlife for big game hunting. Many were very suitable for small game and varmint.

The “machine gun” myth was perpetuated by the MSM by showing footage of full-auto fire while reporting about the AWB. That is were I believe the public was brainwashed. It was the old “bait and switch” con job and it worked because most folks simply didn’t know the real details.

I do give credit (or blame) for this sham of gun control to the Democrats and Bill Clinton. Clinton had to twist a lot of arms to finally get the law passed by only one vote in the House. The AWB had no effect on crime but was a toehold to further erode our Second Amendment rights.

And BTW, wouldn't it be ironic if the little Iraninan bastard's convoy were to hit an EFP on the way to the UN? No tears would be shed here...

I beg to differ with you on that statement. I serve my country every day when I go to work. I ensure that the food produced at Cargill is safe for consumer consumption. I am a Federal employee (meat inspector) and also under paid. My benefits amount to squat. Retirement may be ok, but health, life, dental and vision benefits are very expensive. That's why I'm insured by other means.

I do understand what you are saying though and I agree to some extent about our politicians.

And yes...an EFP would work nicely!!!

I agree, your job is very important. I would consider someone like you basically on the 'front lines against terrorism" because someone could easily try biological warfare against us. It would only take a few drops of something nasty to kill a few thousand people.

I'm sure terrorist have thought of attacking us through our food chain. I'm really surprised at our governments' lack of response to this possibility.

I have had no training at all from the U.S.D.A. concerning the recognition of any biological or chemical effects upon livestock. However, I do take it upon myself to research and study such issues.

Disease Listing, Anthrax, General Information | CDC Bacterial, Mycotic Diseases

Nontheless, we should be prepared. I believe Sen. Pat Roberts has made this one of his concerns for many years now, but little (sad to say) seems to be getting accomplished.

Fighting the war on terror will never end. It will be around for all our great grand kids to deal with.

Our best hope is to stop the terrorist from creating safe havens in which they can advance and promote their cause, and their attacks upon and IN the U.S.

You’re right on Mike. It’s too bad that some folks don’t understand that.
