Dems, no pullout until 2013?

FINALLY they go on record about the troops in IRAQ. Now maybe people with STFU about pulling out of IRAQ too soon.

HANOVER, N.H. (AP) - The leading Democratic White House hopefuls conceded Wednesday night they cannot guarantee to pull all U.S. combat troops from Iraq by the end of the next presidential term in 2013.

"I think it's hard to project four years from now," said Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois in the opening moments of a campaign debate in the nation's first primary state.

"It is very difficult to know what we're going to be inheriting," added Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York.

"I cannot make that commitment," said former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina.

Big Hillary was non committal on a lot of things. I guess as a presidential candidate it's easier to say what you are against than what you would do to fix things.

"Asked whether they were prepared to use force to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear power, several of the hopefuls sidestepped. Instead, they said, all diplomacy must be exhausted in the effort."

Nothing like NOT answering a question about what you would do....sheeeesh

Basically some said they wanted to raise the retirement age and the others raise taxes to fix social security. How does everyone feel about that? Would you rather have the social security be partly privatized so you have your own money with YOUR name on it...or would you rather have taxes raised and the retirement age raised?

Just four more tours here and I can retire. *sigh*.

The Democrats will not pull the plug on the Iraq war.

It’s common knowledge that early withdrawal will end in a bloodbath over there and the Dems don’t want the blame for that. They will continue to fund it while making a lot of noise about it hoping that it will fall apart on Bush’s watch.

A Democrat president will continue so it doesn’t fall apart on their watch. The latest Hillary proposal sounds a lot like the current Bush plan.

That’s how Congress has been putting a band aid on the problem for decades. The whole program is a pyramid scheme that a private company would go to jail for.

Private accounts would allow savings to be inherited by the family. Since poor folks generally have a shorter life expectancy many never collect much out of Social Security. A private account would help lift those families out of poverty in the long run.

I agree. The hard anti-war left will vote for those candidates that promise a swift withdrawal pulling votes from Democrats.
