Probably won't see this on CNN..

US military deaths in Iraq lowest in 14 months

US military losses in Iraq for September stood at 70 on Sunday, the lowest monthly figure since July last year, according to an AFP tally based on Pentagon figures.
The figure also marks the fourth consecutive drop in the monthly death toll following a high of 121 in May. June saw 93 deaths, July 82 and August 79. The monthly toll in July 2006 was 53.

Two US soldiers were killed on Saturday in separate incidents, pushing the overall toll of American losses since the March 2003 invasion to 3,801.

A surge in US troop numbers saw an extra 28,500 personnel deployed from mid-February, mainly in Baghdad and the neighbouring province of Anbar, although commanders said most were not in combat positions until May.

US commanders say the strategy is starting to work and that levels of violence are dropping, allowing for a possible drawdown of the 160,000 or so troops now deployed.

"The trend is certainly in the right direction," US military spokesman Rear Admiral Mark Fox told a press conference in Baghdad.

"The surge unquestionably is what has been the catalyst that has created the opportunity to have more forces operating in more places at the same time and to deny Al-Qaeda and the extremists safe-haven and to take away sanctuaries."

The highest monthly toll was 137 in November 2004 when a US-led force stormed the insurgent bastion of Fallujah in fierce house-to-house fighting. Of the 137 dead, 126 were killed in action.

In April 2004, the second deadliest month since the invasion for US military personnel, 135 troops died. The month marked a turning point in the war with uprisings in Fallujah in the predominantly Sunni west, and in Shiite cities south of Baghdad.

I saw that too Army.

Believe it or not, I had a very good feeling about it. I do hope things turn around for us since we will have troops there. If this helps Bush's Image, I am for that !

Because a good image for Bush is a good image for AMERICA.

This is very good news.

I think it's good news. It could mean a lot of things..Hopefully it means the surge is working out. It could mean the enemy is just laying low but despite having better technology from Iran and us having MORE troops on the ground we lost less people. You would think since we have more people on the ground and are pushing we would lose more people...hmmmm...maybe we are starting to taste success. I doubt if Bush really cares about his image, nor do I. If he cared about his image he would run his policy off of polls like WJC did instead of off of his beliefs and values of what he thinks is the right thing to do. The bottom line is that we could be successful as hell in Iraq over the next 9 months and the media would still drag him through the dirt. As long as he cares about keeping my family safe and keeping taxes down he's got my vote. IF he feels compelled to unilaterly or bilaterly take our Irans nuke program in the mean time...I wouldn't mind that either.

There you go again. I try to say something positive about the PUKE we have for a leader and you make me have to respond. (which I love by the way)

His image may not be important to you or him, but it damn well is important for the way the world looks at us.

If you think what the world thinks is not important. I don't even know what to say.

America has lost credibility, just since GWB has been posing as a world leader, and you can't blame WJC for that.

We have lost credibility with the socialist countries like France and Germany....as far as I'm concerned they can kiss U.S. ass anyway. We have American blood on their soil so they can exist. We have lost credibility with the jihadist I'm sure...another Kiss my Ass scenario. When WJC was president he had great credibility cause he didn't do shit with his foreign policy. Other countries don't like OUR foreign policy because WE the U.S. stands up for what is right, unlike France and other whiney ass'd socialist countries. But when the radicals are running over France (they lost control for a few days already) they will call on us to save the day...it's what we do. If you think about why France and Russia don't want us in Iraq it has nothing to do with hating Bush...it's about the money. They were making money prior to the war and we got up in their Chi....

Our media loves reporting lies from phony soldiers claiming to have committed war crimes.

We have Democrats like Murtha claiming Marines committed cold blooded murder before the charges were investigated. (Four of the eight have been cleared but did that make big news?)

We have nutcases running around claiming 9-11 was an inside job.

I’m sure there’s plenty more for the list. If Bush’s opponents are so damn worried about what the rest of the world thinks about us they need to stop spreading lies for political gain.
