WASHINGTON - Earlier in the week, his younger sister helped congressional Democrats sell expanded funding for the State Children's Health Insurance Program. Yesterday, with the White House threatening again to veto the legislation, it was Graeme Frost's turn to take up the cause.

The 12-year-old Baltimore boy, whose family relied on the government-funded insurance program after he and his sister were severely injured in a 2004 car accident, came to Washington yesterday to record the Democrats' weekly radio address.

"If it weren't for CHIP, I might not be here today," Graeme says in the address, to air today on stations across the country.

(choking back tears.)

It’s real tough raising four kids on $45K a year, struggling by without health insurance. This SCHIP program sure is a good thing for those folks. I just know it has to be hard to scrape together enough pennies to pay tuition at a private school for two kids at $20,000 each. It would really hurt those kids if the Democrats holding them up as poster children gets dad sent up the river for tax evasion.

It looks like the Freepers did their homework. Too bad Reid’s staff didn’t.

Makes you wanna puke doesn't it.... Doesn't that program expand free healthcare for "kids" up to 21?

The CHIP program is run by the states, hence S-CHIP. I don’t know what expands under the Democrat bill beyond more tax dollars thrown at a program “for the children.” I did read that Maryland has no assets test so this family with over half a million in real estate got help.

The Baltimore Sun story reported the family income of $45K and that the child went to Park School. How come nobody at the Sun questioned a family reporting a below poverty level income was sending a kid to a prestigious private school? Was the ploy to embarrass Bush just too good of a story to check?

A lot of the press is not held accountable for their reporting anymore.

I went looking for something that explained the program and the proposed changes that wasn’t full of political hype and finger pointing and this is what I came up with.

Sink this SCHIP

The Truth About SCHIP Shortfalls

Redesigning SCHIP to Strengthen Private Health Insurance for Working Families

I read somewhere that this new funding proposes expanding coverage to families that make as much as $80,000/year and also has a loophole that would allow illegals coverage under this new program.

There ya go Bubba.....One more reason to NOT vote for a Democrat. Illegals are...ILLEGAL...the Dems are trying to work them into the mainstream of this country more than they are. DO YOU SEE A PATTERN HERE? Drivers Licenses, healthcare....grrrrrrrrr. People get mad when I say Dems are for terrorism but are not some illegals terrorists? If you look at all the sanctuary cities...SAN FRAN, LA, etc they are DEM CONTROLLED CITIES...UGH
