you can show me where SOMEONE said, "I want to defund the troops." as was your assertion.

Taking money away from Bush to play war at the expense of the troops isn't the same as taking money away from troops for say... Oh I don't know, Pay, medical care, educational benefits. Nobody, except for the Bush administration, seems to want to do that.

The military has lobbying groups on the hill that we support to lobby.

Lets take the statistical leader right now...Hillary.

Here is here special interest money:

Lawyers/Law firms account for over 4 Million dollars of her money. That's twice as much as the 2nd contributing sector, securities and investments. Movies and music (hollywood) is in her top 5.

Also you can look at her INTEREST GROUP RATINGS...this gives you a group that you may disagree or agree with and how high they rate Hillary. They rate them high or low for a reason. FOR EXAMPLE:

NARAL and Planned Parenthood gave her a 100% while the national right to life people gave her a 0%.

Most of the Tax reform people gave her low scores.

Border Patrol organizations and Immigration reform groups generally scored her low.

Welfare and poverty groups scored her at 100% of course.

National Security groups scored her very low.

Project Vote Smart - Senator Clinton - Interest Group Ratings

These are just a few of the things you can find out about a candidate if you do a little reading. Everyone has different issues that are important to them. If you are old and poor then I guess old people and welfare issues might be important. If you are religous then perhaps the pro choice/pro life thing might be important. To me (here's where I take a stand on what's important to me...I would like to know the same for you) the important things are
1. National Security and Border Control (immigration, not catering or pandering to the illegals for votes)
2. Keeping taxes low (for all incomes) and keeping the market going up!
3. Keeping our military strong and supported.
4. Addressing international issues and doing what is necessary (IE Iran/nuclear issue)
5. Social Security Privatization (won't happen though)
6. Tax reform and simplification
7. Our education system needs to be fixed. NCLB needs to be tweaked.

Gun rights is important but in today's society I don't think that's much of an issue any more unless you live in San Fran but it's so liberal it's gone to hell.

How about you? What are some issues that are important to you?
Army I am in agreement with the issues you post. But because I am Social Security age, I kinda like it. You said your folks had planned for the future and your mom has enough to enjoy her golden years thanks to that foresight.

So she sends her social security checks back to the government since she really doesn't need it right ?

I am not saying that to be mean, I am talking reality. Not too many folks will turn down a government check.

You keep forgetting there are folks that work hard as hell all their lives and want to eat when they retire.
My sister -in-laws were waitresses all their adult lives. They survived on the tips they made, because the wages were nothing. They didn't get enough tips to do anything but survive, much less save.
what about folks that work in service industries ? Cashiers, clerks, on and on . So until there is a solution to the abuse what do we do.
MINIMUM WAGE........what a joke. How about a LIVING WAGE ? But there you go. Small business owners are struggling too. Anyway here is wiki on it.
Social security - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I think it is approprate for a nation that is "the richest nation on earth".
Its the missuse of it that is the problem, by the government and the public.
as an after thought, My mother had a income from heaven, from her deceased husband. WWII wounded vet (lost his leg) and investments and oil leases and all that. She never worked but she received a Social Security check $200. till he died and then I don't know how much.
I know one thing, she sure didn't need Social Security, but she sure didn't send it back.

I checked out the site you posted above and found this:

also

Keep in mind that ratings done by special interest groups are biased. They do not represent a non-partisan stance. In addition, some groups select votes that tend to favor members of one political party over another, rather than choosing votes based solely on issues concerns.

The internet is wonderful. You can find anything to back your beliefs and nothing wrong with that. I do it too. Its great.

Any way . You didn't answer my question either.
and damn, Maybe Hillary should be placed before a firing squad as a traitor to her country........ohwaitaminnit............would one bullet work if you line them all up in a row ? Save on ammo

Come on...social security is something they earned. It's NOT welfare or something like that....

I don't forget this. Everyone wants to eat when they retire but they don't plan for it and they fall back on their SS thinking that will lead them to a grand retirement.

What about people in the service industry? Do they choose to do that or are they forced to do that? That's the great thing about our country is YOU choose your destiny unlike other countries where some people are limited to what they can do because of their background or family.

I think the minimum wage is a joke also. IT's a political thing they use in Washington. I think there shouldn't be a minimum wage. The minimum wage should be market driven. There are very few minimum wage jobs in this country for people w/ a skill. Yes I understand waiting tables is a minimum wage job but most households don't depend on a minimum wage job as their primary source of income. How much IS a person worth without a skill. I have worked minimum wage jobs before and I think it sucks. It's enough to make SOME people want to go to school or learn a skill...Again...minimum wage jobs are for unskilled labor so I guess you get paid accordingly. When I was working at the Sonic at 17 years old it was basically unskilled labor because almost anyone could cook a burger...Do you think someone bringing your tea to your table should make $18.00 an hour because they DESERVE a good wage? In this country you DESERVE the right to be free to choose what you do. You deserve a safe environment to be educated or not. You deserve the choice of what you do. IMO that's all you deserve..the rest is opportunity lying there in wait for those who want it...
