New route to citizenship

Dubbed a "U visa" it allows "victims of violent crimes" who are found to be here illegally, breaking the law, to not only not be deported but to stay here, legally work and apply for permanent residency.

Now put aside the fact that this law just wreaks of stupidity and look at the can of worms this opens.

So now all illegals need to do is report themselves as a victim of a violent crime and they get pardoned from their crimes. Obviously the government doesn't see being here illegally as a crime. But what bothers me is is it the governments place to decide what laws to enforce? Aren't these laws we the people have put in place, by our elected *cough* Representatives?

I predict a huge increase in violent crimes to illegals.

Ya ya I know, "If you don't like whats going on show it by your vote next election." Like that makes a difference. So it seems we really have no recourse in controlling our own government. So tell me why would Iraq, or any country for that fact, want to become like America?

Now I can see why these countries hate America. We are a dictatorship and our dictator is the government. Democracy my ass!

It just seems at every turn our gov't is trying to figure out a way to keep the illegals here DESPITE what a majority of the people want.

Agreed! I think the problem is in the way Americans play politics. It seems most would vote in their party no matter what they stand for. All that matters is that their side wins the seat. What I don't get it the logic behind such thinking.

We hear all the time that "if you don't vote you have no right to complain." Now I don't agree with this line of thinking but I believe most polinites(those who love to play politics) feel this way. Now here is the problem as I see it.

If I were to go get a loan knowing I'm paying 19% interest and then complain because I'm paying 19% interest, I'm sure most people would feel I have no right to complain. And that would be true. Now wouldn't that also mean that If I were to vote in a candidate that I knew was pro-illegal immigrant I wouldn't have the right to complain about illegals?

We believe that the majority of Americans don't want amnesty granted to law breakers, but if say Clinton is voted in knowing she is pro-illegal immigrant don't that mean those who voted her in have no right to complain?

If you read the crimes that can be applied for the U visa or whatever it is...most are pretty serious but also listed is Domestic Violence which is VERY common. I wonder if an illegals wife files domestic violence charges (misd) and then gets legal status if her hubby and the rest of the family becomes legal?

I'm also personally VERY tired of hearing this "we bailed you out in WWII" garbage.

Oh yeah, and quit throwing our damn tea in the harboUr already!

Flame away.
OK you "limey" , this coming from a "redneck honkey", I agree with you! It's not my idea to get involved in everybody else's business, but our government and politicians all seem to think that we should.
On top of that, they then think we need to send all of our tax money to some other country to try and sway them too. Meanwhile, those of us that are working and paying taxes, get "jack shit" in return!!

I thought we both bailed out the damn Frenchies in WW II???

As for the tea, if they keep raising taxes around here; I think it is time for a damn "tea party" right here again!!

First Monster, I agree with what you said.

Let me ask you if you think that some of the perception might be the way media reports us overseas. One example that comes to mind was an American reporter was in Paris at the time that an American citizen was being held captive by terrorists and beheaded. The reporter said that it was nowhere to be found in the French news. I also remember early in the Iraq conflict it was reported that the Royal Navy turned off BBC on their ships because the reporting was far away from the truth.

So do you think that maybe their opinions are formed on misinformation?

Oh Man!! Nothing quenches a thirst like a big old glass of iced tea!
However, in the mornings, I am an "instant human"------just add coffee!!
