Say what? If you’re not talking about immigrants you must be referring to citizens. Citizens should be able to get a driver’s license unless they are disqualified because they can’t pass the test or had their license revoked for too many offenses. So just who is it that you’re really concerned about Mayor?

I find it incredibly insulting that officials, at any level, would even suggest a concern for inconveniencing criminals. It also explains why we have the illegal problem we have.

Oh we'll follow GC's lead to make criminals out of them damed filthy smokers, and I'm sure they'll enforce it, but they sure don't dare step on the toes of our packing plants. They know who butters their bread.

On a side note. Has anyone else noticed to influx of Oklahoma tags? As the other states begin to stand up for their people the illegals are migrating to the sanctuary cities.

Ok Smoll, lets flip it then.

My concern is that it is going to affect the blue-collar workers of Dodge City. Those of us working day after day paying our bills, sending our kids to school, paying taxes, and even obeying the laws. We pay our insurance premiums because we follow the state laws.

WE have to fit the bill when an uninsured motorist or unlicensed driver wrecks into our vehicles or damages other property. WE have to pay our own medical costs when unlicensed drivers hurt us and have no insurance to pay. WE all suffer from higher insurance rates, medical rates, and other economic costs since we are the blue-collar workers (the white collar ones get to pass the bills to us, remember?). WE have to stand by and watch our elected officials sidestep our concerns yet will jump through hoops for those with $$$. The plants sure as heck don't care about our community, just what they can suck out of our community.

As other posters have said, the law is about unlicensed/uninsured drivers. Perhaps our elected officials can remind these immigrant rights groups about it. If they say it is anti-immigrant or whatever, how about getting their members to stop finding ways to circumvent OUR laws and start obeying it.

Regarding federal authorities enforcing immigration law, they try to. With an estimated 12 million illegals roaming the country, they try to keep up. The blue-collar legal workers of America are becoming more vocal in saying they are tired of a double standard when government expects us to follow every law but overlook those here illegally. There is a reason why many states (ie Oklahoma) and cities are enacting rules. It seems to me that the only people supporting illegal immigration by either inaction or advocacy get some type of benefit from it like corporations making huge profits from cheap labor, legislators having housekeepers being paid pennies on the dollar, or advocacy attorneys winning cash settlements and fees from suing the government.

Sorry.....just a rant from WizardofOz, a blue-collar worker.

This is first and foremost not a racial issue. An unlicensed driver is just that...unfreaking licensed. If more Hispanics drank and drive do we avoid cracking down on DUI'S. This is utterly and completely WRONG. Is this Smoll guy elected or hired? If elected when is the next election?

Ok, I know some of you guys don't agree with Michael Moore's movies, but if you have seen his most recent film, "Sicko", you know he knows how to get a point across. I am e-mailing him today about our illegal immigration problem and our "Sanctuary" area here in SW Kansas. If you want someone to know about this, he's the guy to tell it! I would suggest we all send a short (or long) message to him and let him tell our story.

Do you own research on it. If you want to believe anything that Moore puts out then so be it. His movies aren't a documentary. He set out in this movie to make our health care system look bad and had an agenda. What he didn't tell you is that people from all over the world come HERE for healthcare. Our healthcare system while not perfect if better than most. Canada pays mucho taxes for their broke ass system. Moore is an anti american idiot.
