I don't know that showing them all pictures of car crashes would work. I've got some good ones from my years with the MP's in Europe though. There was one good commercial we saw at the safety officers course that was from England, a slow motion of a car crash from inside the car where everyone was buckled up except for one guy in the back seat. In the motion from the crash with him ping ponging around in the car, he inadvertently kills everyone else in the car with him. I'll have to see if I can find it.

I've seen that one, too. I think that of the three other people in the car, two died and one had major irreversible brain damage. It's pretty cool and pretty sobering to watch. Can't remember which class or training it was in that we saw that. Maybe some sort of FD vehicle safety course I had to take? Try checking things put out by VFIS.

I've known a lot of people who swear they will never wear a seatbelt because they've seen too many injuries from people wearing them. Quite frankly, I've run a lot of MVC's, I've come to realize two things:

1) If my vehicle stays on the road, I've got a really good shot at living.
2) If I stay in my vehicle, I've got a really good shot at living.

Of course, following #1 means not swerving to miss soon-to-be roadkill. Following #2 means wearing my seatbelt and not getting ejected.

Do firefighters love tearing a car apart with pneumatic tools? We love it. But we would much rather do it at training than when someone's life depends on us getting them out.

It is perfectly normal to cheat to get ahead. That is how it is done where they come from. They don't have to follow rules, and our PD isn't teaching any lessons to these people that it is NOT ok to cut to the front of the line.

I really blame the people that leave a gapping hole (in the fence so to speak) to let the cheaters accomplish their goal. If people wouldn't let them in, they would stop trying to cheat and find it is quicker to just get over into the inside lane as soon as you can.

Maybe we can get CONQ Radio to put up a wireless camera out on the sign to see what really happens when DCPD isn't looking.
Is it illegal to drive in the outside lane, pass 20 cars, then turn on your signal and have a car slow to let you back in line? I dont think it is...so it is not the job of the DCPD to teach people that it isnt ok to cut in a line - that is up to their parents to teach manners! It isnt against the law to be rude! (Altho maybe it should be)

It might cause there to be more old folks and the falling and having heart attacks could pick up the slack time.

What would happen to all of our commissioners? They wouldn't be able to do their job with felony charges...oh wait...they CAN continue to work with felony charges.

well Radio, that about sums it up in a nutshell.

If they (run) speed down the outside lane, then whip in an open spot without the proper signals. I have seen several accidents almost happen just in the last week. Then I say it is your job to stop it. In turn a lesson will be taught.

It is getting out of hand. Better yet, why don't you just take it as a complaint? Instead of being the cop on defensive?

Thank you car 309. I didn't even mind waiting for the lane to clear while you stopped a driver this morning.
