I thought something had to be up somewhere. I was driving west on comanche thismorning and up ahead of me I could see a police car weaving in and out of traffic. He was in a big hurry. He didnt have on lights until he needed to pass someone. Then when he got to the intersection at 14th and comanche he turned on his lights again to go to the left side of the turning lane and he turned right, in front of the turning lane and the other lane. Then after making the turn, he turned off his lights again. If he was in such a hurry, then why didnt he leave on his lights and use a siren??

It's hard to say why he was driving that way when s.o.p. is to warn all other drivers that he's in a hurry.

OTOH, yesterday I was speeding on my way to the station and noticed a cop coming towards me.... DAMN (I thought) but was relieved to see that he was talking on his cell phone and didn't notice my speed.

Gotta love cell phones when they distract cops.

I hear the person responsible for the accident had just received a ticket 20 minutes prior to the accident.

Any updates? From what I heard it was horrible. The jaws of life were used.

Car wreck injures three at DCHS

One teenage driver and his passenger were speeding in the Dodge City High School parking lot Wednesday morning when they struck another car head-on, injuring themselves and the other driver.
Police Chief John Ball said the two students crossed into the oncoming path of the vehicle of 37-year-old Dodge City resident Dave Droste. All three were transported to Western Plains Medical Complex for injuries.

Ball said the students were going fast enough to crumple the front of their car. The 17-year-old driver and his passenger both had to be extracted from the vehicle with the Jaws of Life. The driver sustained injuries to his face, arms and chest. The passenger was unconscious. Ball said both struck their heads on the windshield.

According to the report all involved were wearing their seat-belts. The names of the two students were not released because they are minors. The injury status of those involved was not available.

Um.......seatbelts are supposed to stop you from hitting the windshield, so then how did the two kids BOTH hit the windshield and be wearing their seatbelts?
