How can you support the troops and want a strong military and vote Democrat? They have stood on the podium in front of the world and announced our defeat in Iraq, sent bill after bill to congress to cut the funding for OUR SOLDIERS IN IRAQ and have presented bills to cut and run in Iraq...

How can you complain about taxes and be taxed taxed taxed and vote for the Democrats who have already said they want to REPEAL the Bush tax cuts? (raise taxes)

Same way you can be PRO-LIFE and support the death penality........

I know very little, that is why I ask things on here... I get easily confused and like to hear the opinions and such from the great minds here on the Dodge Board. Instead of insults why don't you enlighten me as to the liberal way of thinking. I just want to know how someone can step up and say "I support giving drivers license's to illegals" or "I support cutting funding to our troops" or "I support amnesty and open borders". I have a hard time understanding that so I was hoping someone could help me out without all the negative comments.

I've said it before and I"ll say it again. Single issue voters are idiots.

If you could convince me that I should vote for someone based only on what they promise to do about my firearms then I guess I'd be and idiot and I guess I'd HAVE to register as a republican.
Big fear politics? All I have to do is look back over the last twenty years at what Democrats have proposed on the gun issue to know where they would take private gun ownership. And they use fear politics to push their agenda.

I’ve never considered myself a single issue voter. There are many issues and Democrats have over time put themselves on the wrong side of 99% of them.

Being Pro life and pro death penalty are two completely different issues. The only way they are the same is that someone dies in the end. One could say abortion is killing an innocent child and others would argue the death penalty is taking the life of a criminal that is not innocent. I personally would not compare the two but you can if you want. It's apples and oranges.

First, let me reiterate - I'm not liberal. I'm not a Democrat. I'm not a Republican. I exercise my right to determine my opinion, rather than having a party line dictate what I support and what I don't support.

With that having been said, I will only address one aspect of your post: that of immigration, amnesty, and open borders. Would I support immigration to this country? Hell, yes. Two reasons. First, if it weren't for immigration, I wouldn't be here. Very few of us would. I'm only a second generation American, and I'm thankful I didn't have to spend my formative years on the other side of the Iron Curtain.

Second, the world has flattened out considerably in the last 3 decades. Borders are blurred when it comes to the business world. In fact, one mother has written about her failed attempt to boycott all items made, assembled, or outsourced to China. A product assembled in Europe may start with components manufactured entirely in China.

One mom's fruitless quest to boycott China - Holiday retail - MSNBC.com

The fact is, we can't survive without other countries. We can't survive without non-Americans. Look also at the recent analyses that reveal a drop in consumer in spending will not hurt the American economy because of the sheer scope of global interconnectedness. In fact, the boundaries between countries are so blurred, the only time it seems to matter is when bombs are being dropped.

Dare I say this? We're too nationalistic where it doesn't matter and not nationalistic enough where it does. We worry about nationalism when it comes to the geographical location of people and things. Quite frankly, that sort of nationalism isn't important. We DON'T worry about nationalism when it comes to wealth, goods, and economy. Perhaps we should.

THAT is why I generally support amnesty and open borders - because without it, our collective ass is grass.
