| so what would the other side be -- ie, get rid of them all 1) we would eat healthier since the cost of beef would jack up to 12 - 15 dollars a pound or more -- less beef, more health 2) Mexico would have pressures go up for a true reform of their country -- ie, radical change of government and a shared border with a country that would be more like, say, Venzualla. Bonus for that since we depend on Mexico for cheap oil -- so the cost of $300 a barrel oil would make us actually stop driving much. Healthier there too 3) Old people would do a lot more handwork. No cheap labor. City costs and property taxes would go up. Between the legal workers pay rate and the empty houses in Dodge, that would happen. Bonus there since housing would get much, much cheaper (except for property taxes, but we could get rid of about half the schools and teachers, so big savings. 4) Social Security tax would go up since a large percentage of SS taxes paid by illegals (yes, it is taken out of pay checks at the meat factories) ends up in the surplus. That would make sure we all work until at least 70, so bonus there -- work is good for us. 5) Sale tax collection would drop right away -- so we could stop building those expensive city/county buildings from it -- bonus there since there won't be the up keep cost to pay -- and we could cut city/county staff since we just wouldn't need so much government nor a new empty jail. That would also open up a lot of school space, and even fewer teachers would be needed. Gee, what did I miss? Maybe the anti-immigrant movement has some good points to be gained. Just don't own property in Dodge by the time this happens -- you could do just fine. By the way, there would still be a lot of legal Latinos in Dodge, so don't expect your church to be quiet either way. And Spanish would still be spoken a lot -- gee, they allow Italians in the East Coast to still speak Italian years after they got here for cheap jobs, and you even hear Chinese in ChinaTowns around the country. Shame, why don't they speak English....... |

1) $12-$15/lb for beef?!? Get real it would never happen. Contrary to your belief to state that, not all workers at packing plants are illegal. Some are, and price would go up a little if/when we weed out the illegals. But, it won't go that high. 2) We pay market price for oil no matter where it comes from. I don't see how you can assume we get cheap oil from Mexico. Also, the number one importer of oil to the U.S. is Canada, followed by Saudi Arabia. Mexico comes in at 3rd for importing oil to the U.S. 3) If you pay to have an illegal do labor around your house, shame on you. I know I don't. I have school kids that want to earn money do work for me when I need work done. No need to hire an illegal to have work done. 4) Check your sources. They pay SS tax out of their fraudulent tax I.D. paycheck. But, that money goes into a type of limbo and can't be used since the source of that money and its legitimacy can't be verified. Bottom line, SS tax won't go up for that reason. If it goes up it will be because that the number of baby boomers expected to reach retirement age will double within the next decade. 5) It might go down a little, but it won't be a disaster. Garden City is thriving more than Dodge City just a few short years after they wouldn't grant Monfort any tax breaks to stay in Garden City and Monfort packed up, shut down and laid everybody off. PS. Ask a Mexican National what happens to a Guatemalan or an El Salvadoran, etc. that comes into Mexico illegally and gets caught. (hint)-Think target practice.

| Being a long time resident of Dodge City, I can definitely say the following. We were doing just great before the packing plants and all the illegals came here. We will be just great when they leave. All these "threats" about how bad it will be if they all leave? Don't bother me none!! I cherish the "quality" of life more than the "quantity"! |

| NOT to mention when the casino comes it will add some revenue and traffic flow to the town. The rental and housing market should get better than it is now. You are trying to justify having the illegals here is an overall PLUS to the community...good luck convincing people on that issue.
