| Then I might just have to bust a cap off in their @ss. That might be something that they would understand. But officer, I confronted them while they were tagging my house and they came at me and I feared for my life so I had to defend myself according to the Kansas law that states that I can stand my ground.

| See the line I added to my previous post at the same time you posted the quote above.

| Gee, guys -- in the past there wasn't a test for citizenship I do note that our town founders -- many of them -- just signed a form, in front of three witnesses -- and changed from, say Prussian or Hungarian, to US citizenship -- that was it. And at least some of them didn't learn to read English, ever. German and other languages were spoken in many homes here. They came to make a buck, grow a family, get a house, whatever. They were judged by the work they did, and their public behavior. But, back to point, they didn't have citizenship tests in the 1870s, etc. All you did was change it, signed a form, and you were legal. The tests were part of a later history to stop -- base on racial quotas -- more of them darn Italians and Chinese from coming over -- and those Irish, too. PS Taxes are taken out of pay checks at the meat factories. Whether they get sent in by the companies is another issue. But taxes, whether sales, income, or -- through their rent -- property tax, and SS payments are made by many of the workers you talk about. Maybe it is the IRS that should look at local businesses to see whether they pay 'off the book ' and below legal limits, etc. or fail to send in forms for their workers -- and I mean businesses owned by very legal Anglos that make huge profits using 'illegals'. And there are a lot of Puerto Ricos coming up to the meat factories -- although some have left already due to work conditions. Of course, they are legal from day one. And will be able to vote. That should change the body politics of this area since PR has a huge Democratic majority. Gee, workers that can vote -- now that will be a horse of a different color .......... |
