| Where there’s smoke...how about a burning car Quote:
The City Commission needs to take care of this first. What is worse? A person smoking and generating second hand smoke or 100's of 3-4 ton cars or trucks driving down the road with no legal driver and/or insurance. I don't know about you but I know very few people that have not been involved in an accident to find out that the driver is not insured and/or has no driver's license. First things first. Lets make it more expensive to not have insurance (legal proceedings, jail time, courts and money) than to have insurance in the first place. |

RIGHT...here is something I posted yesterday.... But the carnage wrought by illegal alien murderers represents only a fraction of the pool of blood spilled by American citizens as a result of an open border and un-enforced immigration laws. While King reports 12 Americans are murdered daily by illegal aliens, he says 13 are killed by drunk illegal alien drivers – for another annual death toll of 4,745. That's 23,725 since Sept. 11, 2001. While no one – in or out of government – tracks all U.S. accidents caused by illegal aliens, the statistical and anecdotal evidence suggests many of last year's 42,636 road deaths involved illegal aliens. A report by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Study found 20 percent of fatal accidents involve at least one driver who lacks a valid license. In California, another study showed that those who have never held a valid license are about five times more likely to be involved in a fatal road accident than licensed drivers. Statistically, that makes them an even greater danger on the road than drivers whose licenses have been suspended or revoked – and nearly as dangerous as drunk drivers.

| Our city leaders have their priorities in the wrong place. Cracking down on those w/o a license might offend someone here illegally...that would go against what Dodge City has become.

| I agree. how many people that you know personally have been endangered in a wreck with an illegal? I can count 5 in the last 3 years. They all got the shaft after all was said and done (out of pocket money, higher insurance, Medical bills, repairs, ect..). how many people do you know personally that has died from second hand smoke? (that's a trick question) better question would be how many non-smokers you know that have died of lung cancer? none for me. I know there are probably many but compare it to wrecks from uninsured. |

| The problem here is we're dealing with people, I think elected officials are still people, that are egger to address an issue of concern to those who put them in office. Not you or I, but the money people that put people in office to do their bidding. Smoking is a serious issue worth addressing because they've been told to do something about it by their bosses. Those who put them where they are. Again, not us. Illegals aren't a problem because they've been told it's not a problem that should be addressed. It's a matter of priority. The priority is keeping those who put them in office happy. Again, NOT US. And it's not just local government I'm talking about. We see the same, kissing a$$ all through government. They know who butters their bread.
