He was probably one of the best priest that the Dodge City Diocese had.
A good man and a faithful servant of the people. RIP Joe!

I don't know where he came from, I just know he was a helluva priest. What a gentle human being. I knew some people that didn't agree with his viewpoint, but I never knew anybody that disliked him. What a sad day.

He was born in Claflin. Served parishes throughout the Dodge City area...don't think he was ever stationed in Nebraska

Fr. Bahr

Father Joe Bahr was our parish priest here at St Dominic in GC since 1999. He was a gentleman and an inspiration to all. I had the highest respect for him and will miss him a great deal. He was a true gem and the finest priest I've ever known. God bless 'ya, Father Bahr.

I don't know......... that sounds kinda funny. I don't mean funny/odd, but funny/haha. It's probably just me.

You're right....it does look funny when you point it out!

What I meant was - he was at Sacred Heart for such a long time it seemed - the religion classes he taught were more meaningful than some taught by the other priests, nuns or lay teachers. He seemed to be able to relate everything in the Bible to current (well, current then, which was ... oh, about a hundred years ago ) events. He made it easier to understand and believe. I'd probably be in a better place spiritually if he'd been my only religious instructor. Unfortunately.....you're stuck with what happened to me after his classes wore off!

I, for one am happy with the way you turned out, as I'm sure a lot of others are too! Merry Christmas!
