Bush gains a million points in my personal poll today..

Bush acknowledges faulty Iraq intelligence
But he says war was still justified to oust Saddam, create democracy

WASHINGTON - President Bush accepted responsibility on Wednesday for going to war with faulty intelligence, but firmly defended a decision that has deeply divided the country. “We cannot and will not leave Iraq until victory is achieved,” he said.

“It is true that much of the intelligence turned out to be wrong. As president I am responsible for the decision to go into Iraq,” the president told a foreign policy forum on the eve of elections to establish Iraq’s first permanent, democratically elected government. “And I’m also responsible for fixing what went wrong by reforming our intelligence capabilities. And we’re doing just that.”

My url had a javascript code or something weird so i cant give ya the url..but its from MSNBC news.

It's kind of like when a kid does something wrong and continually lies about it trying to escape responibility.

They will keep going until you've shown them you don't buy any of the crap they are telling you to get out of the situation. Then when the finally see they are busted they will come clean because they have no choice.

In my house, my daughter's punisment for the lie is worse than it would have been for what she did wrong in the first place.

So pat W on the back all you like, which may be difficult since it's in a corner, but it's akin to making a big deal out of the fast food worker who finaly gets your order right after multiple tries.

What Highwayman's saying is that it was Klinton's Sea-Eye-A providing the 'intelligence' during that time. W is fixing that problem.

Re-doing the CIA is a very slow ship to turn.

It was W's CIA. If there was something wrong with it he should have fixed it rather than listened to it. You can buy that line if you want.

I'll tend to believe that W picked and chose what intel he wanted to reveal to get his agenda implimented.

Just like I choose to wonder why he never did anything with his PDB titled "BinLaden determined to strike inside America."

I also wonder why he hasn't done any of the things the 9-11 commission said needed to be done to clean up the mess.

I'm also floored that when asked the straightforward question of, can you tell us one thing you'd have done differently, that he couldn't answer. When he FINALLY admits he's responsible that it's too little and too late.

He's "in charge" so it's his responsibility to get it right or to take responsibility for getting it wrong.

I get it, Wordie - I really do. And maybe I'm being Pollyanna here too. I think there is stuff being done - but maybe the press doesn't even know it or else they haven't bothered to pick it up yet. Because the man is the leader of the most powerful country in the world, I have to assume something's happening that I don't hear about. Because if I hear about it, you know everybody else has too. So how can a person in Bush's position ever accomplish anything if he is constantly checking under the rug (he has to trust that someone knows what they're doing) or constantly holding news conferences to tell us what's going on?

Well Hiway - I didn't follow that thread - sorry!! I was just teasin bout the intel -

If Bush and Clinton got their info from the same CIA - perhaps the problem is the CIA's sources......ya know like screwball or what's his name that gave bad info. It's not all ONE person's fault - hell even Monica was blamed for Clinton's indescresion. Truth is this goes on whether it's Dem or Rep. It's politics - I just think that when Clinton did or said a good thing I supported that I didn't pretend like I didn't have ears. I also didn't think he should be burned at the stake when a lot of others did. I also did not vote for him. There is a certain amount of respect that should be shown to a leader of a country - it's called protocol. It should be followed no matter who is in office. I believe anyone has the right to be "staunch" anything they desire. This country will never be ALL repub. or ALL democrat - so the insults will fly forever.............still a good post and I think in the spirit of Christmas I can be forgiving of the staunchers..............guess others think so too - the polls are rising.........if ya believe the polls.

my point behind the thread was kudos to bush for finally admitting he was wrong, whether his back is to the wall or not. long over due, but he didn't have to admit fault. i am happy he did.
