| Ooops, Must Need More TAXES!! Business conditions in Kansas slip -- again
Business conditions in Kansas fell again in December, according to results of a Creighton University survey released today.
Kansas' Business Conditions Index for the last month of the year was 44.2, down from 49.4 in November and 53.4 in October.
A BCI score of 50 or more indicates an expansionary economy in the next three to six months.
Creighton professor Ernie Goss, who created the monthly survey of supply managers in nine Midwestern states, said he expects the Kansas jobless rate to increase in the first quarter of 2008, but to stabilize by mid-year.
"Losses connected to industries to ties with telecommunications and residential housing will more than offset growth associated with transportation equipment manufacturers," Goss said in a news release.
