I don't know if I am for or against the spending. I just know that I don't ever believe something that I read from a newspaper article. Get the facts before you go chasing him with a lynch mob.

WTF??? Do you even read what you are writing about, or what you are writing? It wasn't to get his name on a bill. It was about getting a casino in Ford County. The bill that was going thru to allow casino gambling in Kansas had NO Ford County in it. He came back to get Ford County in the bill. It says that right in the article. If he didn't spend the money to come back, we wouldn't have voted for a casino in Ford County, which passed by a pretty big margin by the way. He took all the steps to see that he could ethically do it before he did it, so he went out of his way to make sure he wasn't violating any rules.

I would say that anybody that thinks the casino is a good idea for Ford County owes him a big THANK YOU for spending the money and getting Ford County added to the bill.

Crazy think if Pat bought the 12 grand ticket in Dodge and paid the 8% sales tax it must have added a lot of money to our WND fund for everyone's benefit.
Good deal
And while we are talking Casino Let's put it on the banks of the Horse Thief Resevoir Great View of the Old West
Happy Hunting

so the question really is -- how did 12K Pat drop the ball ?

Who did he t-off ? How did he drop the ball ? Why would no one warn him ? Etc. -- we know that planning could come into this, right? Or influence.......

I couldn't have said it any better. You are exactly correct. It was campaign contributions, not tax dollars, that were spent to get back to Topeka in the middle of the night. If Pat had not returned, there would not have been a casino in Ford County - period. And, he took some serious heat from opposing legislators. For once, Old Timer needs to get a grip on reality.

OK - so campaign contributions. None of our business (especially mine) - he only has to answer to whomever gave him the money - not the electorate. You are correct in one thing - his constituency is much happier that he made it back...

That didn't answer my question --

guess I'll have to ask Pat in some forum or something -- was he tricked, or did he drop the ball on staying on top of the casino issue and bill.

That was the question. Gee, no one else wanted Ford County in the bill, I guess, from your statement. Hard to understand that unless Pat has no friends in the leg. ??
