The schools get their funding based on the number of students they have. Then No Child Left Behind says that even the stupid and unruly ones have to perform.

They all have to be there to learn how to take tests.

How in the heck did you get off so easy, Detector?? An F, would have been a "death sentence" for me. No D's, C's were shaky, B's and preferably A's were expected. No pay scale for me either, but if the grades were bad--believe me I paid! Guess it didn't hurt me none. I finished school and college, and still kicking after all these years! Thanks Dad and Mom!

No, that would be the message life's not handed to you on a silver platter, and that you do good in school so you can do good in life, not just because you get a bribe. Bribing people only creates a life of dependency.

If a kids needs to ask "why" they should do good in school, they've got more to worry about than not getting paid for a good grade.

Correct me if I am wrong but they were wanting to pay students for AFTER school tutering. So, if they want to pay them for that, which would be the same as a job, then what is the problem?
