| But if your kid doesn't clean their room, do they not graduate? How many of us, at 14, 15 or 16, were thinking about our future? Most kids think about yesterday, today and tomarrow only. Would you rather see them get a diploma or fail? Does it feel better to say "Told you so" or does it feel better to say you tried to help? We are talking a couple of hours after school for those who, for whatever reason, are not making the grade. Wether it be they are not applying themselves or they just can't grasp the learning......they are failing. We can't teach responsibility to parents, even though that should be done. So, you pay a kid 16 dollars a day to stay after school to be tutored until they are caught up. They do not try, or put forth an effort to learn in that envioronment, then they do not get to participate. It is not mandatory for them to go, it is an incentive.....which is the way anything gets done in our society. I see nothing wrong with rewarding good work and behavior....you apply yourself and you get rewarded.
