Can we call it in if we are driving around town and see expired plates?

I wouldn't know why it's any of the city's business if you have an unlicensed car in your drive (private property). They don't require tags on all the cars on a car lot, and that's private property - just after they're seen on the street will they need a tag. I don't get why they would try to overstep bounds like that and force people to tag vehicles that are unused and on private property. Kind of a waste of good cop time.

When I talked to the city about that guy that ran into me (he had untagged car in his driveway) they said when they're driving around they will send people letters about it.. they sent me one because on the day they just happened to drive by I was parked in my front yard to unload stuff... didn't know that was a no no!!! When I called geico a few years back and told them I had a totalled car they said even though it's not driveable etc.. it still has to be legally tagged and insured.. not sure why

I'm sure on the weekend their will be plenty of vehicles towed due to the new ordinance.. There's usually tons of people getting arrested (according the the sat and mon papers) for no insurance etc.. I hope it makes a really big impact and gets the a holes off the road that can't do things the legal way!!! for DC on this one

I wouldn't know why not. Just being a responsible citizen, trying to keep crime and accidents down in Dodge City. However, the PD may have more important things on their agenda at the time. Be sure and get the tag number and vehicle description.

I got a note stuck on one of my cars in my drive. It did have an expired tag (actually the tag sticker was in my house by the door, but because I don't drive my vintage car much at all, I had forgotten to put the new sticker on). The thing that bothered me was that the note stated that the car appeared to be inoperable.

How the heck can they just look at a car, and determine if it is not drivable? Do we have a city worker that is as good as the Great Karnak (sp)? Apparently they think so.
So I put the sticker on, Started my car and turned it around so the tag was away from the street. By golly they are going to have to get out of the car and walk around to see. Could have just knocked on the door and asked, but that would have been WAY too much work.

It's called governmental greed, they can't get taxes on what isn't registered. I agree with removing untitled, registered, licensed cars off the road but when it comes to vehicles being stored on private property the government has zero right to continue to impose taxes, threaten owners on the vehicle.
