| Legal staus and citizenship are 2 different things. After you linger around with legal status (for years) then you get to apply for citizenship. This is what I'm told by the numerous immigrants I see. I still don't fully grasp the process though. I do know that it's damn confusing and sectioned - and costly. Hopefully that will get better or hopefully we won't really have the need for all the confusion cause some will go home. Don't look like it tho.

| It SHOULD be a process. Not ANYONE should be allowed to come here and get legal status. Being part of the U.S. is a privilege not a right. It SHOULD be something special but it's becoming less and less that way with our open borders.

| >>>This is what I'm told by the numerous immigrants I see. I still don't fully grasp the process though.<<<< It is obvious that neither side fully understands the process. Like you, I have been told by illegals it takes thousands of dollars to become legal and that is the reason they protest and the reason they all sneak here. A high school girl that skipped school to attend a march was interviewed on tv and asked why she was taking part in a march. Her reply was that because the illegals have no rights in the US and that wasn't fair. WHAT???!!! Someone sit this nearly grown girl down and have a talk, please!! |

| It is their own unfortunate fault that they do not seek citizenship as they should. Dodge City would have been a much more pleasant place for me if they had done something with their potential political clout. However, the pressures to keep them illegal, and more importantly, noncitizens, must be tremendous, because the politcal majority recognizes their potential, and is dedicated to keeping a white stranglehold on the whole process. Too little political concern, too late. ![]() |

| Political or not - there are at least 12 to 14 million folks here. It's insane to think they will just go away. They want a part of the pie and want a way to legally do it - for the most part. There all jerks but not all are jerks. I think it's time to recognize their contributions and deal with the issues. Not just bitch and complain that they are here (like I have been known to do) It's time for a plan and the plan isn't shipping 14 million folks out - there's no way to pay for it and most of all it just isn't realistic to think any politician is going to endorse that. So I'm ready to look for a solution. At least that will help abolish the slave labor market that the immigrants create and the businesses abuse.

| I don't know if anyone watched the democratic debate in California last night, but I think if either of those democrats get into office, our immigration woes will be acknowledged and worked on! That's what I think anyways!
