| Florida- Hurricane concerns ANWAR- To many tree-huggers, even though the Alaskan pipeline proves that the oil industry and wildlife/nature can co-exist.

| In fairness Army, the original EPA was a Republican thing. The liberals have taken it to the extreme. It’s one thing to set some environmental standards and something else to raise the bar so high as to shut down production.

Drilling for oil is a waste of time. Money needs to go into real R&D of viable alternatives instead of deepening the reliance on oil. Pumping new wells under US control would only be a stop gap measure like the ethanol fad. Once people see it's not really helping but hurting they will want something better. The key isn't finding a few more barrels here but using technology to replace the need for oil not create a false sense of security for a short time.
