Is he the leader of a football team, or the leader of a cheerleader squad? Being a great speaker means you just know how to say, what to say and when to say the right things. That doesn't make you a leader. Does he have the "power" to actually do the things he wants to do? Politics is about who you know and how well you influnce them. BO does not have that kind of political clout yet.

Granted it may be no big thing, but it always seems to bug me when someone is of mixed heritage and they choose to be represented by the minority side. Is he "black" ? I thought he was from a mixed family so why is he "black"? Why doesn't he tell his supporters to quit regarding him as such? Just a thought is all.

When someone tries to stradle the fence so as not to upset sides......they show a great weakness. If he didn't put his hand over his heart.....then just say it. Why come up with some bullshit smoke-up-the-ass excuse? That makes him sound like a wimp and appologetic for being an American. Screw anybody who "feels" oppressed by our flag. You are not saluting them.......so who gives a crap what they think or feel?

I like BO. I liked him when he spoke at the last election. I think he is truly one of the most motivational people I have seen in a long time and I respect what he has done. That being said, in my own opinion and not because he is a Democrat, I do not think he will win because he lacks the experience needed to be the leader of the strongest country on this planet. Making people feel good only goes so far.
I think the bold sections in your quote above answers your own question. I feel a great leader is able to say and do the things to get others to follow him(or her) in a quest that they feel passionately about. Being able to know how, what and when to say things is a HUGE step in getting others to follow you where you want to lead them. It isn't about dividing the people into liberal or conservative, or Democrat or Republican. It is about uniting people to come together on some common ground to do what needs to be done.

That is what I think, for all that it is worth.

I always cover my heart for the anthem - but then that's just me. I too thought it was optional for the anthem. Sure are lots of folks that need to be called out at most sports games. Hell I see folks that never even take off thier ball caps!

I would have considered BO's actions kinda dumb if it had been the pledge but I did see this when it came out and too was pretty upset. I have altho found bigger issues to look at. I haven't seen it as anything else but him being like most sports fans I see. Glad he wasn't wearing a hat on that day - Lord only knows how I would feel then! LOL

And I respect your view Bubba. No doubt being motivational is a big plus and requirement to being an effective leader.........Hitler comes to mind (and no, I am not in any way comparing BO to Hitler so put the pens down) but it does not make one a leader. Experience and grit does that and BO has not, to me, shown that because he has not had the time or chance to do so. I also do not like Senators because they have no experience in leading. All they do is vote and form groups to come up with ideas but have never had to lead. Governers have, and in my opinion that kind of experience is much better. There is a big difference between "The buck stops here" and "The buck passes by here". Just my personal opinion is all.

Here’s another location for that Grainman. I posted it back in October when we had this same pissing contest with the same folks defending the same Obama doing the same thing.

Here’s what I had to say about it then.

That link didn't load any page for me. Highways link didn't say when that section of the USC took effect. It just recited the code. I may be wrong, but I swear when I was growing up it wasn't a requirement. I remember being taught that it was optional.

An example of our liberal teachers personal influence over the kids.

I don't ever remember it being optional..

Being liberal wasn't real popular in the 60's and 70's.

Bubba try this one US Flag Code: Title 36, U.S.C., Chapter 10

This has a date of 1994 on it, the one I tried sending you last night that didn't work had one date of 1936 on it, so not really sure. It is not something punishable by law, but an respect thing. AS IT SHOULD BE !!!
