Senate Votes to Ban Waterboarding

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Senate voted Wednesdy to prohibit the CIA from using waterboarding and other harsh interrogation methods on terror suspects despite President Bush's threat to veto any measure that limits the agency's interrogation techniques.

The 19 approved interrogation techniques in the military field manual include "good cop/bad cop," sounds like something one would play in the bedroom"false flag"—making prisoners think they are in the custody of another countryoh NO, anything but THAT....—and the separation of a prisoner from other prisoners for up to 30 days at a time. wow, what a punishment...

It prohibits military interrogators from hooding prisoners or putting duct tape across their eyes. They may not be stripped naked or forced to perform or mimic sexual acts. They may not be beaten, electrocuted, burned or otherwise physically hurt. They may not be subjected to hypothermia or mock executions. It does not allow food, water and medical treatment to be withheld, and dogs may not be used in any aspect of interrogation.

They can capture our people, civilians included, put a hood on them and saw their head off while video taping....but we can't put a HOOD over their head? We can't withhold food from them for a couple of days? Why don't we just check them into a Holiday Inn and give them room service hoping they cough up some intel on their own terms. Maybe I watch too much 24 but when you capture major players that may have intel that could lead to more arrests or the stopping of an attack we need the information in a timely manner. The more time goes by the less useful the intel is. Imagine the scenario where there was a dirty bomb going to be set off in one of our more populated cities and we caught someone that had the intel we need to stop it....what would YOU DO?

Hurrah for Handsome Harry Reid, finally got something accomplished after he too over the throne. Next I hope they pass something to keep the next Dem pres. from choking young interns with their ( you know what) in the Oval Office.

Using torture for interogation is just s tupid waste of time anyway.

All it does is makes someone make stuff up that the interogators WANT to hear to make it stop.

you are probably right Wordy in some cases anyway. I suppose there are times it has gotten good info, but it would be easy making crap up to save your own life.

Even if you got good information from torture you'd have to use REAL methods to verify it.

I promise ya if they spent a few nights in tha hood down here they would talk - hell they would sing! Leave em in the 5th ward in Houston - no waterboard needed.

I do altho think waterboarding is fine - I used to beat my kids within an inch of thier life (so they say) but one thing they didn't do was lie. Course I too learned not to lie as a kid for the same reasons. Waterboarding is just something we should be able to do - hell no one else honors any convention during war. Sometimes you need to be able to do what you need to do. The senate and john mccain are just not right on this issue. It's all done now tho it looks like.
