Oh, honey - there's no stoning that's gonna happen here. Well, probly not tonite anyway........

ID isn't really a religion - it's a theory of how humans came to be. Some folks believe that it wasn't ID, but was actually something else. I happen to believe we should touch on all the theories out there in science class and let the students decide for themselves. This is still a free society and I think it would be a mistake to not allow children to discover for themselves how they want to believe.

All evolution provides is a means of explanation as to how we have such diverse yet still similar organisms. You and I have the same DNA base pairs as a grasshopper. No where in the theory does it say "God doesnt exist."

Well I remember it being billed as the theory of evolution but I sure don't remember the word theory being mentioned when showing all the images of how we evolved from apes.
One of the most mistconstrued ideas of evolution. Man did not evolve from apes, but apes and man share a common ancestor. They evolved at the same time, just differently and into different species.

If classes were to teach I.D., tell me which intelligent design idea should they teach.....?

Which is my understanding of what was going on with this case. One page in the textbook that said “this is one of the theories.” It wasn’t dwelled on, just mentioned and move on. No God, Buddha, or Allah mentioned.

Well "mentioning" is what makes people start "thinkin".....can't see nuthin wrong with that......This debate will never end tho cause too many fanatics on both sides want to use this as a stepping stone to "prove" thier point. This has been goin on since Darwin started "thinkin" after it was "mentioned" that maybe we got here by other means. It's just never ending to me.....too tiresome to debate...........I say let me know when the issue is setteled....course you'll have to come to the grave to tell me!!!

O.k. i was under the assumption that you wanted science teachers to go into those and explain everything. As i said before, my highschool biology teacher told us before we got into evolution that we werent going to discuss religion. Which, to me, meant that what she was about to say may or may not be true.

It's all about how your teacher teaches it to you. You can have a teacher who agrees with the "one bullet theory" with JFK or you can have a teacher who believes it was a conspiracy. If your teacher strongly believes in the evolutionary theory, then he/she will put a strong emphasis on it. Teachers will show bias one way or the other. It's up to you to determine if you believe what your teacher says.

Exactly my point. I think it should be a teachers job to teach 2+2=4 because... well it is! I don't really mind teaching a theory so much as all the time and text books spent trying to make the evidence fit the theory. We now know these "evolutionary examples", trying to make evidence fit the theory, are actually different species which pokes even more holes in the theory, but I'll bet they're still in the science text books and I wonder just how may times they reference the term theory in these books.

If science has decided that evolution is the only theory they'll validate then fine, but they should at least put a bit more emphases on the theory part just so students aren't so closed minded, like themselves, to other possibilities. You know, just in case another one comes along.
