Yesterday, the Senate voted to reauthorize the FISA bill with a veto-proof majority. As Corner readers know, the president wants to sign the legislation before it expires on Saturday.

But House Democrats did not have time to pass the Senate bill, because they faced the crucial and time-sensitive matter of voting on contempt charges against White House Chief of Staff Josh Bolten and former White House Counsel Harriet Miers….

The Democrats in Congress wasted thousands of hours and millions of dollars on hearings and investigations attempting to find something that rises to the level of an impeachable offence. They failed. If you have anything to back up your accusations send it to Grandma Nancy because she’s getting a lot of heat from your left-wing buddies for not starting impeachment proceedings.

The only thing your minority has to hold onto at this time seems to be the fact that the Dems haven't started impeachment. I'm not sure why they chose that route and I'm more than a little unhappy about it.

According to top Democrats, the expiration of the Protect America Act (PAA) when the clock strikes midnight Sunday is no big deal. Our ability to monitor foreign threats to national security, they assure us, will be completely unaffected.

This is about as dumb a talking point as one can imagine. And it is just as demonstrably false.

Think for a moment about Tuesday’s crucial Senate bill overhauling our intelligence law that Speaker Nancy Pelosi refused to allow the House to consider before recessing Friday — for a vacation. (Democrats evidently had no time for national security, having exhausted themselves on such cosmic matters as a baseball pitcher’s alleged steroid use and unenforceable, unconstitutional contempt citations in a stale investigation into something that wasn’t a crime and that no one but MoveOn.org cares about any longer).....
