Out of the 33 top rated cars just a small percentage were American made. I wonder why our country can't make better cars? We can put a rover on mars, have the space shuttle, cure disease but can't make a car worth buying. What's the dealio?

By my count it's closer to 50% of the top cars are American, considering Toyota has manufacturing plants in Kentucky, Indiana, West Virginia, Alabama, and Texas. Toyota also makes Lexus. And if I remember right, Hyundai is owned by GM.

Your theory on competition doesn't seem to jive when it comes to car manufacturing..........or oil, for that matter.

I actually saw on NBC Nightly News last night that 2/3 of all foreign cars sold in America are made in America by American production line workers. So it isn't the American made cars to blame. It must be the American design engineers.

Sure....because of the competition from the Japanese (and now Korean) auto companies American made cars will either have to get better (consumer wins), get cheaper (consumer wins) or go out of business.

You're going to have to change your lingo. Most (two thirds) of the foreign cars on your list are American made. I think you mean American-owned car companies....

LOL...Right Bubba...I said that before. A lot of foreign owned car companies assemble their cars in the U.S.A. but the American owned car companies have their cars assembled in Canada and Mexico. Sounds odd doesn't it?

You can have your JAP cars! I drive several of the vehicles that you have rated dead last, and I have ZERO problems with them. They are all American Autos/Trucks. The problems associated with American vehicles is probably associated with the NAFTA and Foreign Parts and Labor!

I did see a new Tundra have an accident last week, and you wouldn't catch me in one!
