Why You Should Close Bank of America Accounts

I have closed my Bank of America account, several months ago. If you bank at Bank of America you should close your account too. Here is the best reason why...they are at the top of the list of companies that most people have had their identity stolen.

Who's to blame for the ID theft epidemic? Surprisingly, given all the attention the subject receives, we know strikingly little about the root causes of the problem. ID theft is often called the fastest-growing crime in America, but there's precious little research into which companies have the worst security measures and which suffer the most data leaks.

Researcher Chris Hoofnagle thinks it's high time we started pointing fingers.

Hoofnagle recently undertook a laborious task: He scoured thousands of ID theft complaints filed with the Federal Trade Commission, looking for company names. His simple question: How often do people tell the FTC that their accounts or information have been stolen from particular companies, and which companies are named most often?

The answer to his query is Bank of America, which averaged 1,117 complaints in the three months he surveyed. Two cell phone companies -- AT&T Wireless and Sprint -- were second and third on the list...

What problem did you have with Centera, Poots?? I will say that they are not the "local, friendly bank" that they were when they first opened.

I think it is odd that companies under the microscope for having bad security also sell identity theft insurance or credit monitoring service. Coincidence?

Closed mine last week. Not because of any of the above reasons. They just kept asking me to bend over and it cost me toooo much. I finally said stop.

Sunflower Bank has treated me a lot better than BoA ever did. They have many locations throughout Kansas and Colorado.

When I use to bank there everytime I went over my account it would cost me a bundle. It seemed like they would make it where there would be numerous checks that would bounce except just one. It was weird because I am very good at math and they seem to get a different amount than I would every time. You got me. I have heard this complaint before from others as well. also they had a daily fee when that happened so it would cost even more from there.

ALSO found out my mother had an account still opened there two years after she had already died. I went to them and they would not give me any information, as well as my dear old step dad. Like it was none of my business. My step dad and the bank both were very secretive about that crap...I do not like that. The more I find out about him the more I realise what a snake he was, just like Centera Bank.

I have banked at every bank in DC over the years, and believe me, none of them are perfect! Maybe Western State Bank coming in will wake them all up?
Monster, Centera's Bank in DC is managed by a woman. Of course, she is worse than most men.
