He probably watched it on the news about the Hallmark plant in California. He must think that if it happens in one plant then it happens in all plants.

Is the Hallmark plant inspected by the USDA? Or, is it a smaller plant that is inspected by the State Dept. of Agriculture? Does anybody know?

I saw that on TV and it just made me sick. It's like watching someone get the crap stomped out of them when they can't get up. Just sad! I lost it when they got the fork lift after the poor cow. I did see the hearings when they point blank asked the rep from the packing plant if that cow should have been slaughtered - the answer was no. I'm sure the majority of plants do thier job like they are supposed to but I can see how animal rights folks get fired up after watching that!

Course I still went and got my burger for lunch today and was mighty happy Micky D's was in business! Yum.......

That would be a "rumor"!
I know Mike and a lot of other G-Men, and they try to do a good job; however they are usually understaffed and some of the packers will try to get away with everything that they can. Granted, they are much better today than they were 20 years ago or so, but like everything else anymore, the buck drives the car.

Yes, the USDA was performing inspection duties at the Hallmark/Westland meat packing company. It is a smaller packing plant. All facilities regardless of size are Federally inspected by the USDA/FSIS if their product is shipped over state boarders.

The "Hallmark" video as awful.

I really have to wonder about it though. A lot is done in the name of animal welfare. Deliberately cruel things.

I really think it is possible that the video could have been set up. Someone could have been paid off to injure those animals when the "hidden" camera was running.

Maybe not. I know there are cruel stupid jerks out there that do horrible things. But look at the damage a video like that can do. It reaches a huge audience for free!

I can't imagine any meat packer allowing this type of treatment. Not just for the cruelty involved, but the fact that is does not help the bottom line.

Yes it was horrible and I couldn't watch it all....made me almost turn vegetarian.

I am a tree hugger, animal lover and should be ashamed of myself. I have no will power ....dammit
