| This article was printed in January IMHO....It raises some important questions re/ loyalty and all the things we expect from a presidential candidate... Obama's speech was awesome...It is what most folks want for America...however, some of the things you can find when you dig, is very unsettling. Read the whole article if you feel a bit unsettled. If you are comfortable, DONT READ IT. In 1991, when Obama joined the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, he pledged allegiance to something called the Black Value System, which is a code of non-Biblical ethics written by blacks, for blacks. It encourages blacks to group together and separate from the larger American society by pooling their money, patronizing black-only businesses and backing black leaders. Such racial separatism is strangely at odds with the media's portrayal of Obama as a uniter who reaches across races. Today in Investor's Business Daily stock analysis and business news I don't really know if this means anything at all, I just thought it was an interesting read.

| What I find interesting is Rev. Wright's views of the world seems to have stunned people. As a storm trooper we did a lot of traveling but my dad made sure we were in church every Sunday. So he would pick a local church where ever we were and we would attend. Many were "black churches" and I must say I never felt comfortable in any of them. They were not all that different from Wright's church. Is it that hard to believe? I read somewhere that 90% of blacks carry some kind of resentment toward whites. Have we really come as far as we give ourselves credit for when it comes to race? No! All we've done is make it illegal to display in most public places. Should we be concerned that a presidential candidate comes from such a background? You damn right! I don't think there is that much difference in Wright's church and Rev. Phelps church other than Phelps takes it to the streets. Would you consider electing a president that had 20 years in the Phelps church? Hell no! What I was a bit upset about was I've seen 4 other black ministers interviewed on the news, and every one of them defended Rev. Wright. None of them agreed with him, but they all defended him. When asked about Wright's claim of the "white government injecting Aids into blacks" none of them would say they didn't think it was true. They all avoided a direct answer, and 2 of them admitted they thought there was truth behind it.

| I've got no problem with it It's time for different viewpoints and time for change. The status quo isn't working and is dragging us down. Experiences make us who we are but we aren't just our experiences Of course black churches are angry places and if you think about the history of the people who attend there they have lots of anger to deal with. Racism hasn't gone away in this country but it's going the right way It's time to vote for someone who's willing to address it and talk about it as if we are all adults Sure, Obama comes from that angry background but he has transcended it and comes from a bit more privileged background and he is drawing on ALL that experience in this campaign and I’m sure he will bring it all to the Presidency Is there something that happened to each of you in 1991 that you simply mark up to the learning process and go on or is every decision you made back then a huge part of your life? If moving forward and change frighten you... Well vote for McCain. If you can handle making new choices then follow your conscience. Indeed we can.

| I still don't think Obama is any worse a choice than what is being offered. Can anyone actually say that his speech wasn't truthful? I was feeling like perhaps I had misjudged him with all the news lately. I believe the man himself I did not misjudge and his priorities are not misjudged. He is just as much a patriot as any of the others - PLUS he can tackle the tough topics. I am still processing his speech but he still has my support for now and I'm not regretting my vote. Course McCain still has my son's support. Barack's speech didn't do much for anyone whose mind is not willing or ready to look at "human" issues - like race. All the issues are important but this one I found to be quite an insight to the man. I like a candidate that challenges us to things we aren't comfortable with. I don't know if he'll still have my vote come November - I hope he does but we will have to wait and see. There is nothing wrong with having hope and wanting to believe in something better than what we normally have.

I'm not sure what it is but I just get the impression Obama is much better at politics than people give him credit. And believe me, thats not a good thing. I just can't help feeling he a shifty character that knows how to play the game. And the people. I saw today on the news where they're saying he has already done some "flip flopping" in his statements about the Rev. Wright. First he said he had never heard such come from his minister or he would have quit, then 2 days later he says he had heard the Rev make such comments many times before. I think people are starting to look a bit closer at Mr. Obama, and they're not liking what they're seeing.

| I don't know - his flip flopping on that is the least of my issues. I'm more concerned bout can he actually lead a country - I know he can inspire, give hope, call to action, empower, and calm crowds with an insight we haven't seen in years. Like I said - at this point I'm still willing to take that chance with him. The other 2 are politicians as usual. At least his appears to be heartfelt and honest. I think the way people are run thru the wringer in politics - it's amazing there is any candidate at all. My vote is still on him - it's going to have to be much worse than what I have seen or been told by talking heads to change my vote. I may be way off base but in America - I get to choose who I vote for.

| You voted for Bush. Look at what he said he'd do and look what he did.
