Italian company wins bid to negotiate for Kansas Lottery

Lottomatica SpA, the manager of Italy's national lottery, said it won a bid to provide gaming services to the state lottery of Kansas.

The successful bid, made by Lottomatica's Gtech unit in the U.S., followed a competitive process. Final award is subject to negotiations of a seven- to 10-year contract, the Rome-based company said in a stock exchange statement today.

Rome-based Lottomatica controls three-fifths of the world market for computerized lottery systems after buying Gtech Corp., the world's biggest seller of lottery gear, for $4.65 billion in 2006.
