| Gasoline Prices I wonder WHERE the price has to go to finally break our economy? I thot at $3 it would slow beyond repair but I see ppl still eating out and driving all over hells half acre. With distances in Kansas so great between cities, it will impact us as much or more than the bigger cities where there is mass transit. We have no options but to drive or stay home. Post how this is impacting you and your family or business. Please dont bash bush or whomever is to blame in your eyes. That is already done elsewhere. kk |

| Just a local observation Will gasoline have to get to $5.00 per gallon before someone figures out how to open a drive to the Dodge City High School from the South East. Much Much fossil energy could be saved very easily. Am sure other locales could effect similar savings Have a pleasant day |

We just bought a new vehicle. Other than safety and reliability, fuel efficiency was very important. We purchased a Honda CRV. I get 29/30 Mpg on the highway. I'm going to sell my Mustang and am considering getting a scooter. ( Don't laugh) Other than that we haven't changed our lifestyle much. We do a menu and budget for grocery's to keep from impulse buying which saves. On the gas note: They AVG on a car is 15000 miles a year which is 1250 miles per month. If you car gets 20 mpg you should use about 63 (62.5) gallons of gas a month. If the price is 3.10 a gallon that is $195.30 a month on gas. NOW if gas goes to 3.70 a gallon lets say that is 233.10 a month in gas. That is a whopping $37.80 more on gas a MONTH which broken down is an extra $9.45 a week. Now if you have two cars that all doubles but still that would only be $75.00 a month more on gas for 2 cars if you are an average driver. A lot of people waste that on cigs/lottery tickets/eating out/etc. THe real cost of gas going up is in the goods and services we pay for. If someone smokes a pack a day @ 4.00 a pack that is $120 a month...just a note..lol

| AOO, you may have bought that car too soon, check out this: cbs2chicago.com - Brothers Team Up To Create 100-Mile-Per-Gallon Car DU PAGE COUNTY, Ill. (CBS) ― With gas prices seeming to go up every single day, some people are more determined than ever to find different, more cost effective ways to get around. As CBS 2's Dana Kozlov reports, the Ewert brothers have a rather advanced science project. But instead of a typical dry ice experiment, Chris and Andrew used batteries and a charger to make their hybrid Toyota Prius get 100 miles per gallon. "My brother and I built this, and car companies should be able to do it, too," Chris Ewert, an electric vehicle enthusiast, said. The car is the Wheaton brothers' way of lessening the dependence on oil and helping the environment. It's something the DuPage County Forest Preserve has been focused on for close to a decade. "Oh, we're making a significant difference in the environment," said the district's John Walton. The district has hybrids and vehicles that run on four different types of alternative fuels, including natural gas. "It burns at less than 10 percent of the pollutants of gasoline, and for the mile per gallon dollars, it's costing us about a dollar a gallon," Walton said. If you want to forget about fuel sources altogether, you can go electric. Small electric cars get 40 miles per charge, costing three cents a mile, and are meant for local neighborhood use. "With the gas prices going up and with the green movement, it's really unbelievable the number of cars we're selling today," said Dan Mack of the Electric Avenue Auto Mall. The hitch is the vehicles are not legal in Illinois. That's frustrating, considering Mack, Walton and the Ewerts are convinced gas is not the way of the future. "There is no gas shortage today; there will be in the very near future," Walton said. "We are not going to have gasoline the way we have it." (© MMVIII, CBS Broadcasting Inc. All Rights Reserved.) Each 60 cent increase in gas equals $36.80 per month per vehicle. Wow. How many times have we taken 60 cent increases in the last four years? Me thinks about three times. What does that equal in cigarettes? You can put lipstick on a pig Army, but it's still a pig!!!

| Gas Prices Thought I would just mention this, but x=wife just got back from Wichita and gas there is $3.49 a gallon. If its that price there, we could be looking at nearly $4.00 a gallon or more here! Lord are we having FUN yet? And they don't even have the courtesy of using Vaseline! What a country! |
