| to ELABORATE... DOUBLE DIGIT inflation Federal Reserve Rate was 12% Unemployment was almost 8% and by the way...how familiar does this sound? In 1977 President, whose mistrust of special interest groups such as the oil companies was well known, proposed an energy program that included an oil tax, conservation, and the use of alternative sources of energy... that was in 77...30 years later how has THAT worked out...lol. We are still talking about the same thing.

| What is "reality"? We all choose our own, depending on our state of mind, our beliefs and our circumstances.

| Binky Army has no idea about reality... He has lived in his little bubble since he was 18 and he is easing into his 40's. He wouldn't know inflation if it was a woman and sat on his face. He has nil experience in living with the possibility of being laid off from his job, being unemployed, losing his health insurance, having a mortgage, cutting coupons, on and on and on...you know ....the things that real folks do. He will always have income, he will always have health care and can retire now if he so chooses. If he did retire he is young enough to retire again from another job. Mind you there is absolutely nothing wrong with that at all. I loved the life but I didn't know what was in the real world until I became a "civilian". It a great life, I miss it alot. WHAT A RUDE AWAKENING I stepped into... Problem with Army is he likes to influence and council others about things he has no experience in. That don't make him a bad guy.....it just means he is ignorant of the WAY THINGS REALLY ARE. I actually am thankful for his dedication to duty, and his beliefs as he knows it. I have only admiration for him, I take issue with the rhetoric and judgment of someone "OUT OF TOUCH" So Bink....Just consider the source and enjoy his posts as I do because he is in reality denial and he cannot help it.

| Recession--Depression. I just wonder what this countries economy would be if the $1.6 billion that was sent to Mexico, stayed here? All I can say that mom and pop back in Mexico must be living high off the hog, unlike most seniors or disabled are here! They failed to mention how much of the billion was sent to get even MORE illegals into this country! Just from those Mexicans I have talked to and know, admit that is what they send money back there for! It gets to the point where you have to ask whose right and whose wrong, whats right and whats wrong? One thing I know for sure, is that I don't know at all! Ranting done! |

| Ok...you wanna take the gloves off...lets go.. 1st of all...Army DOES have a bit of an idea about reality. I grew up with both parents working, dad a union welder who suffered lay offs during certain periods of time when work was slow. My parents didn't take the gov't handouts so there were time's when we didn't have everything we wanted. I couldn't get any grants for school so I joined the Army. [quote=jeezeweeze;70727]Reality...although I'm younger than you I have probably seen just as much if not more. I have lived in YOUR state and many others. I have lived over seas. I have been to the middle east and other countries and have see poverty, disease and death and such. What have you seen....you look out the window of your trailer and see the end of the trailer park? I'm not naive and I'm not stupid. I'm idealistic though and maybe that's bad but it's me. Quote:

RIGHT...because you were ill prepared and probably didn't have the capacity nor the understanding to make the transition. Obviously you still don't or you wouldn't be in the situation you are now. Quote:
Out of touch? Perhaps I am out of touch...what are you? You want a war with no casualties..no wait..you want no conflict ever. YOu just want to stay home, shut your blinds and pretend the world is a great place for everyone and have a great big group hug...talk about out of touch...

![]() ![]() Did I strike a nerve ? That's not a hard thing to do because you have A LOT OF NERVE ARMY, and being judgemental is so unattractive and beneath someone that has been so blessed as you have been. I have posted judgements also and I have got to stop it. Its not neccessary. Your experience is a sheltered one, as was mine. I have no complaints about my life at all. I bitch about some things but all in all I did OK. I could have done better, that's the truth. I do not diminish you or what you have Army, because I recognize your accomplishments and you should be very proud, but a bit of humility and thankfulness doesn't hurt anyone. My hubby was just as ambitious as you and thank God for it. Not everyone that didn't have the good loving parenting or less than a high school education should be reduced to " trailer trash" (you have a trailer phobia) I have found in my life time that most "trailer trash" would feed you you and shelter you and give you their last dime if needed... Did you ever watch the movie "Grapes of Wrath"? That is a great historical movie. Shows what happened to folks in this... richest nation on earth. Through no fault of their own and circumstances beyond their control, they had it very rough....... If you choose to watch that movie.... The Joads family is the exact family that my in-laws were. I learned alot from them, that I had no idea about because I was a military brat. My very fondest memories are of those poor ole sharecroppers. Daddy had been in WWI, the oldest son in WWII, and the baby boy....Vietnam.... They had not a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of that was their own... and back then if there was any help they were too proud to take it. I think the reason for starting the welfare system was because of folks like them.... Anyway take it for what its worth and you also can consider the source. There is no way to really know what motivates a person to choose the smoother road or the rough bumpy one.

| Speak for yourself but not for me. Just because I have spent 20+ years in ONE career area doesn't make me sheltered. I know a lot of NON MILITARY people that have worked the same job for a long time. Just because I haven't lived in a box and ate scraps doesn't make me sheltered. God and even more important the Republican party...lol They are the ones that take care of the military...since we are thanking people we cannot forget the true important ones... ..and FWIW I've seen the Grapes of Wrath many times and have also read the book a couple of times.
