| I bet you will find in each case there is an older sibling. And, I would bet, you would find that older sibling is not what one would consider a good student. Just a guess on my part. I can see the sibling planting those thinking it would be funny.

| As a side note....and kind of off topic.... My son and I (he is a Junior) were talking about JFK since he is studying him now. The teacher told the class about how people reacted the day JFK was shot. My son remarked that it is sad that many of the kids, if it happened now, would find it funny. Today they watched the movie JFK and watched the actual footage of the shooting. A couple of the kids actually laughed and made crude remarks. My son nearly got into a fight over it because he called them out about their lack of respect. Needless to say.......very sad how our youth have turned out. I was telling him about how we reacted when we heard about RR getting shot, and how the kids in school were in shock. I am glad to see that some, and my son is one of them, can still see how you can disagree but show respect.

| My Dad was in Dallas the day JFK was shot........I wasn't very old, but I remember my Aunt watching the TV crying.....My Dad said it was one of the sadest days of his life. He was born in Texas, and was so ashamed that the assination happened in Dallas........ You are right..........there is absolutely no compassion left in young people. Everything is a joke.....

| I would bet that all of us who were alive when JFK was shot remember exactly where we were at and how we felt - much the same as the Challenger disaster, 9/11 etc. Those were a few of many horrific events that shocked our souls. Haven't our children been desensitized to violence and death because of live TV in war zones, movies, games, rap music - that graphically display or even encourage a lack of value of human life? That lack of social sensitivity has influenced a growing lack of respect, both in schools and at home. Combined with overworked parents, legal restraints on discipline, and breakdown of family units and values, we have the result - children that carry guns to school. I never encourage censorship, but I do feel we all have some responsibility for what we have encouraged or caused. How do we change the course we are on?
