    Dealer Offers Free Gun With Car Purchase - Kansas City News Story - KMBC Kansas City

    BUTLER, Mo. -- A local car dealer is holding a controversial promotion involving guns.

    Max Motors in Butler is offering anyone who buys a car the choice of $250 in gas or a free semi-automatic handgun.

    "Like I say, it's a choice -- protection or gas," said Walter Moore with Max Motors.

    With the price of fuel, it may become important to carry personal protection, especially someone like me, since the value of my vehicle doubles when I fill 'er up.:)

    They had the owner on the news last night. I dunno. I don't think it's a bad thing. I agree - sometimes we feel like the value of our car doubles if it has a full tank! Not long before driving away without paying is going to be a felony! (ok, maybe that was a little over the edge...) People are having to go without a whole lot, especially if they have minimum wage jobs in the first place. What is to stop them from stealing anything you own.....except that gun in your hand. It's still a choice. If you don't like the idea of a free gun (you still have to pass the background check), then take the other offer. That's pretty simple.

    Personally, i'd take the gun. I can buy gas, sometimes. But I can't replace myself if I can't protect myself. Would come in handy when I get my CCW.
