The paper said they caught 7 in one deal and already had 4. That's 11. Do you think anything will happen to them? If they are illegal you can bet they will get a slap on the wrist at the most. DC doesn't want to tarnish their sanctuary city standing.

Having said that...People in DC are TIRED of the gangs and grafitti. This is a chance for the prosecutor to represent the tax payers of Dodge and send a message to the gangs in DC. If they MAX out the punishment on these azzhole kids then MAYBE it will send a message. If they get off with a slap on the wrist then they will send the message it's ok to destroy people's property.

You're absolutely right! Yeah I knew they had 7 yesterday, and 2 a couple weeks ago, I was trying to figure out the other 2, but I think I figured it out! I forgot about the 2 from a few months ago! Sad thing is, if they don't have a criminal history more than likely they'll get off with a slap on the wrist and a diversion or something. I also agree on something like that the penalty needs to be more severe, but with the justice system, they have a code to follow just like all other jobs, and they can't bend the rules!

Whether they get off or go to jail, the tax-paying, law abiding citizen loses. The burden to the taxpayer will be huge either way. Right from the get-go, we'll be supplying court appointed (taxpayer funded) attorneys. How much you wanna bet that all 11 "clients" will miraculously be unable to afford representation?

if they can't afford representation I hope they get the newest lawyer with the least experience and one who just squeaked by law school and barely passed the bar exam.

    lol

That would be nice but unfortunately I don't think we have any new defense attorney's! I think they're all on the prosecution side!

Agreed, but wont really matter since none of these will actually go to trial.

Doesn't take a whole lot of skill or experience to plea bargain.

I would wager the judge would assign community service to the poor souls to be done after we furnish them free breakfast and lunch and transportation in the school buses.
Would also feel the needy parents would be unable to pay any damages because the many lawyers fees would come first
    welcome to dodge city taxpayers
    have a good day

The community service should be 1 year of wearing a pink jumpsuit and going around town and cleaning up all the graffitti that gets placed all over town.

Isn't it up to the CA's office to prosecute and the Judge to decide the punishment? I mean the CA's office can only ask for the MAX, but the judge makes that decision.

And I understand the last time some little graffiti artists were in district court, the judge on the case was pretty hard on them.
