Telemedicine

Wow. I wonder if anyone else saw anything about this.

Doctor’s office visit with online twistTelemedicine can cut costs, boost accessibility of health care

It's an article in today's KC Star. Where patients can be 'examined' by a doctor online over broadband connections - the patient simply answers the doctor's questions while both of them sit in front of cameras. I'm sorry I don't know how to post a link to it - the website is www.kansascity.com. Interesting stuff!

Posting a link is easy. When your browser is on the page you want us to view, notice the address displayed in your address bar (above). Click on it once and it should darken. When it's darkened, press and hold 'ctrl' and then press 'c' to copy the address. Return to the DodgeBoard page where you want the link and click on it. Then press and hold 'ctrl' and 'v' to paste it.

Ctrl + c = copy
Ctrl + v = paste
Ctrl + x = cut (removes what is highlighted from pages in the creation stage.)
Ctrl + z = Undo... or 'go back' in some instances.

KC, that sounds like a Dr. we had here for awhile. I went to him, because he was a nice guy and new to town, BUT, he never ever touched you----just sat in front of a computer and asked you questions---then put the answers into the computer, and the computer evidently told him what to do. I heard he left town because of a mal-practice suit.

Gee, with a program like that, even I could be a Doctor. Lets see, hmmmm a gynocologist!! Nope, I would have to be "hands on" for that!!

Sounds like you had a bad one....but I can see how this would work. The patient sits in front of a screen and the doctor sits in front of the other. The doctor can see the patient and vice versa. It would all be "live" except you wouldn't ever touch the doctor. It would be especially helpful for the ear infections, tonsillitis, etc - where lab reports tell you more than the patient saying, "it hurts here". I could definitely see where you'd want to know your doctor beforehand and not just pull him/her up on a computer!!!

You got Miss Muffin good article. It sounds kinds weird to me though, but I guess it would be ok as long as he didn't ask you to do surgery on yourself.

Probably only as good as the Dr on the other end. Given some of the Dr’s I’ve seen over the last few years I’m game to try a Google search on symptoms.

Funny thing is, hubby usually DOES google his symptoms before he goes to the doctor. He doesn't have the luxury of having the same doctor for 13 years as I have. Told him he needs to change this one last time. Alas, the doctor isn't taking any new patients. Shoulda listened, huh!

I've got a big book of home remedies. I always look things up in there first and see if I can fix it myself. Amazingly many times it works and saves me an office call and my hard earned money. Somehow I just don't have much faith in doctors anymore I've had too many bad experiences.

Another way I personally think is easier, right click on address and up pops a box with options, left click copy, go to dodgeboard click on where you want the link right click and up pops the same box, now left click paste. Either way works fine, there is no wrong or right way, just what works best for you.
