El Charro's in Chapter 11 Bankruptcy.

Quote:
Dodge City
El Charro, liabilities $1,744,380, assets $1,929,565, Chapter 11.

Their food isn't as popular as it used to be.
More competition.
Less disposable money in our pockets.
Higher property taxes.
Higher energy costs.

Any other problems anyone know of?

Oh yeah, Peppercorn's Dollar Tacos did 'em in.
Or is it "the wall" that was built?

Edit: I understand that the owners gave a lot of money to their Church... wondering if their Church will help them now that they need help...?

I rarely went to El Charro - didn't like the food - I prefer the tacos off the taco wagon and the closest thing to tex-mex (which is what I like) was the little drive thru taquira besides they have horchata.......mmmm just makes me ready to go get migas this morning....... That's another thing doesn't anyone in DC eat an actual mexican breakfast or does everyone think mexican breakfast is a flour taco with eggs????

Sad thing about the resturant but I didn't think it was all that great. At least they are reorganizing BEFORE they get left with only $10.........

Good memory Texie.

I haven't ventured into El Charro for years because my tastes are different.

The best Mexican breakfast in Dodge can be found at Casa Alvarez.... order Huevos al Estillo Jalisco (eggs as done in Jalisco). I just wish they'd offer it with skillet fried popas.

Oh, gee. I really, really hate this.....El Charro's was my absolute favoritist place to eat when I came to Dodge. The staff was always friendly, it was always crowded and you could hear families around you enjoying themselves. I really liked their brand of mexican food. My boys are going to be sorry to hear it too. I hope they can reorg and survive.

I guess I had two absolute favoritists: El Charro's and anywhere I could get a good plate of calf fries. Mmmmmmmmm

I really like El Charros too and El Leons had some really good Mex food their Tostados ruled! I also like the tortas on the corner of Ave H and Wyatt Earp, thats when the owner is there making them, his brother doesn't make them as good as he. Casa Alvarez is awesome as well. We have such a variety here in DC.

I'd put Tacos Jalisco on the top of my list. And as far as the Health Code violations, take a trip to Ole' Mexico, and you'll appreciate how clean it is. Even compare it to the places in England and France I went to when I was there.

Besides, if people stoped going to resturants in dodge that had health code violations, no one would ever go out to eat.

And if all the resaurants closed down that had health code violations in Dodge City, you would have to leave town to go out to eat!

I do not know anything about bankruptcy or how it works, so with that I ask...

Just because they are using chapter 11 bankruptcy, does that necessarily mean they are going to close?

Personally, I hope not - I like their amercanized version of mexican food. I put them in a different class than Casa Alavarez or Taco Jalisco - to me, they do not serve the same kind of food. I know if I am in the mood for authentic mexican food, I do not go to El Charro's. Conversely, if I am in the mood for mexican food with lots of sour cream and cheese and awesome cheese sauce, El Charro's is where I will go.

Dang, I love El Charro's food. I've tried the "authentic Mexican food" places and frankly find it disgusting. It tastes like it just came off the floor. In my opinion the two best tacos in town are Kate's and El Charro's.
