A Leawood father who heard his teen-aged son on the phone last night making what the father thought was a drug deal called police to turn him in, police said. The Leawood police Maj. gave this account:

"The father said, 'I think he may be having some drugs delivered to the house. I want to give you permission to search my house and if you see a car leaving, stop it.'

"Somebody did deliver the kid some drugs, we stopped the car, the person that had been at the house. Then we searched the house and found some drugs." The major added: "I don't want to make it more dramatic than it is."

"I'm sure it was a very small amount of marijuana, something like that," he said.

I always said I would but when it came right down to it I don't know. Just glad I never had to find out.

The funny thing is......I cut-n-pasted this from the KC Star. They listed the address but kept the name quiet (to protect the innocent). I deleted that part. How funny. This is a big town and you don't know who you don't know, but to see an address in black and white...............I guess we could have seen it in the police blog, but I don't think enough people actually read that. I just look at my zip code to see if there's been anything happening in my neck of the woods, though.

My parents used to tell me the same thing - if they ever caught one of us with illegal drugs, they'd turn us in. Maybe that's why I turned out OK - I was scared straight!!!

Yep - they're definitely a protected species there. That's where the thinking comes from that all folks from Johnson County are snooty. Not all of us are..........
