Any bets on how long it takes for Maryland to start seeing the numbers of workers and walmarts cut in their state.

That's how they handle unions.

Of course if they start pulling walmarts out of the state and it turns out to be a positive thing...

If they start closing WalMarts in Md. then the mom and pop type places will open back up. I also read where they are trying to get the same kind of legislation passed in 30 other states.

It's gettin' deep, boys! I haven't decided yet if I agree with state-mandated employee perks. Doesn't seem fair - but then I do agree it's a burden on the medicaid system. I've always considered perks to be a way to hire and retain talent. Seems if it's mandated, it will take away some of the competition for the good ones. I dunno.

But, it is normal Walmart Policy to help their associates get on medicaid. The Walmart stance is, these programs are there for us to use. It seems to me that the world's largest retailer would take more responsibility to see that their employees are covered by insurance and make enough money that they aren't in the poverty level.
