Honoring a REAL Black man?

From another site. Source unknown.

Quote:
WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS?

I think we must live in an alternate universe. Our universe is
upside-down, inside-out, and left-to-right instead of right-to-left.
Nothing here makes sense to me.
The Reverend Jesse Jackson and Bruce Gordon (the new president of NAACP)
are planning a big event to honor a very special hero of the black
community. This event is expected to draw 15,000 people and will probably be held
in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

Who is this black American hero they are planning to honor?

Is it Colin Powell, the first black 4-star general, first black chairman
of the joint chiefs, first black man to be Secretary of State, and first
black man who could be President if only he wanted to be?
No. It's not him.

Is it Clarence Thomas, the first black man to sit on the Supreme Court
of the United States?
Nope.

Is it Dr. Condoleeza Rice, Stanford professor and the first black woman
to serve as Secretary of State.
Nope, not her.

Is it Guy Bluford, the first black NASA astronaut who flew for 8 days in
space?
Nope. Not him.

Is it Ron McNair, the second black NASA astronaut (who died in the space
shuttle Challenger disaster)?
Nope. Not good enough.

Is it Dr. Walter Williams, distinguished professor of economics at
George Mason University, and another truly inspiring black American.
Nope.

Is it Dr. Thomas Sowell, distinguished professor from Stanford University?
No.

Is it Richard Pryor, a real national treasure, who passed away just thisweek?
Nope, not him either...

I could go on and on. There are thousands and thousands of truly amazing
black Americans who deserve an honor like this.
So who is it that the Reverend Jackson and the NAACP plan to honor?
Which black icon is going to draw 15,000 people to honor him?

It's none other than Stan "Tookie" Williams, the thieving murdering thug
who founded the Crips gang --- the coward who killed a little old lady
with a shotgun blast to her face. This guy was so rotten and vile that they
had to put him to sleep to get rid of him once and for all. (San Quentin last month)That's who.
That's who is being honored. That's the role model for our young people?
I'm sorry. I just don't get it. Can this really be happening?

Beam me up Scotty.
There's no intelligent life here

Sounds about right for the Rev. Jackson.

The "Rev" Jackson does more to hurt black people than they will ever realize.

Wonder how many of the afore mentioned LIVING examples of leadership will be present or for that matter wany to be associated with the event?.... I for one felt if there was evidence that said Tookie was innocent than he should not be "put down"....... obvioulsy there wasn't evidence present so - he got put to sleep. Forever. Maybe we should celebrate Charles Manson for bringing cults to the forefront. Maybe we could "tip our hats" to Wayne Gayse for teaching us to keep up with our young boys. I just don't know about society anymore........ and this kinda thing makes me even care less about the Rev than I already do.

How about the forensic evidence that linked him to the murder weapon?

Robert Martin, L.A. County deputy district attorney in the 1981 murder trial of Stanley "Tookie" Williams :

Quote:
“First of all there's no DNA evidence to examine. It's not applicable in any sense to this case. Second of all, the scientific forensic evidence was the firearms examiner had a test shell from the shotgun which was owned by Williams because we had his bill of sale and his driver's license when he bought it. The firearms examiner testified that one of the shells that he didn't pick up (this one was found under a coach at Brookhaven murder scene) was looked at under a comparative microscope to a test shell from the same shotgun. The test shell and the shell found at the scene examined under a comparative microscope proved that the unique pattern on each shell proved that it came from Williams' shotgun and no other shotgun. Then the mass murder escape attempt was all contained in documents written by Williams. The handwriting expert testified that it was indeed his handwriting and no one else's. The accomplice in the case, Alfred Coward, testified to the 7-11 murder of Albert Owens and have a detailed description of the entire evening as to what happened. His testimony was corroborated by other witnesses that passed the scene in the early morning hours of the 7-11 murders and by a highway patrol officer whom Coward said they say giving a ticket on the highway the same evening. That officer came into court with the ticket.”

I can't help but wonder what would have become of his gang if Tookie would have been squashed like a bug almost immediately after his murder spree. How many lives were taken by crips members after his incarceration? "Hundreds" were mentioned...

Yes, our legal system gave us Justice; but not Deterrence.

Now the most un-holy Rev. Jackson is trying to display him as a martyr in the white man's system. He doesn't want peace...

Hey, Hey, Hey......HW and Lurker........ I said IF IF IF there was evidence that cleared him............ good lord fellas!!!......... you sound as irate as I am on the immigrant issue.............

I didn't even know who Tookie was till JJ started campaignin to cut him loose. Like I said......... IF there was evidence to the contrary - obviously there wasn't - so he is now gone. I'm in Texas - remember?....... we fry more than anyone else in the nation. I am not against the death penalty - only IF the case has not been taken to the limit of the law do I have a problem. Tookie's was and a COURT said his sentence should be upheld..... end of story for me. I only worry bout the ones on death row that the Harris County Forensics had anything to do with. They are a mess and I believe innocent folks are on death row due to shabby forensics or none at all. We are dealing with that in Texas all the time. I can't even imagine (nor do I care a whole lot) how California handels "bad labs". Not my worry....... certainly not Tookie's either. If the court and the gov. said he was a schmuck - than for history's page he was. Don't know why they would be celebrating that guy anyhow. Lot's of better blacks around to be celebrated in my opinion..........
